Transmission Filter question

How hard is it to change the transmission filter?
Is it very beneficial to use the amsoil synthetic fluid as opposed to any other synthetic?
Can you buy a filter online?

Transmission filter? There isn't one, but if your talking about flushing the tranny period do a search on tranny fluids/synthetic oil, etc.

Actually, there is a transmission filter, but it is not one of those things that you can "change" like an oil or air filter. The transmission filter, my service advisor told me, is an integral part of the transmission, and is not meant to be removed or changed. Changing the tranny filter will require changing an actual part in the tranny, and it is extremely cost prohibitive. Doing a tranny fluid drain/fill and/or tranny flush is the most that we can do for our TLs.

you have to take your car in to get the tranny "flushed". you can change your fluid yourself, but you will not get nearly all of the fluid out. To do a flush, they hook it up to a machine that actually sucks out the old and puts all new back in. I just got mine done at the Acura dealership and it cost $140. The shops around town wanted about $115-$130, so I decided to spend the extra money to get it done at the dealership with an Acura reciept...just in case.

The tranny shifts alot smoother now also.

I agree with Ou Sig about the smoother shifts after a tranny flush.
