Transmission engage time

I was just wondering if this is normal.
When i go from park to D5 the car starts rolling forward and then i feel the transmission engage in about 2-3 seconds. and then its normal.

All other switches are normal.

Thanks

The car rolls forward with your foot on the brake? Id say thats a problem.

with your foot on the brake, engagement of D5 from N should take 1-2 seconds

much longer means problem in trans

IMO:

-1 or 1 Sec = Full Warmed Trans.
1-2 Secs = Normal.
3-4 Secs = Very Cold Trans or Problem.

head tech at acura says: 2 seconds normal
longer when cold= problem likely with `line pressure`,,try letting car warm up 1 - 2 minutes before driving

make sure you are dead stopped before shifting from or thru R to D
know the car is engaged in any gear before lifting off the brake and proceed

You will then hear 2 slight thunks as the ABS does 2 self test while you accellerate forward thru 15mph
