transmission cooler installed
installed my transmission cooler this past weekend. I got a Flex-a-Lite model from a store called Automotive Engineering (Tampa and Clearwater). took about an hour to install and it definitely makes the transmission shift smoother. Seeing as how it was only $40 I think it is a very worthwhile mod.

I just got Hayden's Smallest "Transsaver Plus" Coolers. Thing is, I took it to a Transmission Shop, they didn't want to Touch it. I then took it to a Radiator Shop and he didn't want to touch it.
So, if anyone's Done one of these, Let's see some Pics and tell us where you put it. I've been told that the Lines Coming Across the Radiator is already a T-Cooler to a Certain Degree.

Coolers are easy to install. See either the FAQ section in the Accord V6 forum of www.superhonda.org/forum OR our new site for the Accord V6 at www.accordv6.com
If you intend to install the Comptech Supercharger, you should get a cooler. Mike B told our group that they tested their own T-cooler and found great gains...but declined to commit whether they will sell a Comptech T-cooler. Probably not price effective for them since Hayden already sells the cooler for about 35-45 bucks. $40 at most pep boys. 30mins - 1 hour for install.
It'll save wear and tear on your transmission. Remember....heat and friction is what kills transmissions. You cut out the heat...well...that's already half the battle.

Transmission Coolers: Where ?
You can get it here: http://www.dcflags.com/
Or Buy Mine thru PayPal, If I can't get someone to install it : )

i am kind of weary of the tl transmission ( i already had it replaced at 58k ). after putting it on the transmission shifts smoother and crisper. every now and then i would get lag in my shifts and it would go into the next gear kind of hard....that is gone (at least since i have gotten it and there hasnt been a change in temperature). the install was actually pretty easy. for me i had to
1)jack my car up because it was too low to get under it easily
2)take off underpinnings
3)find the transmission fluid line (if facing the tl it is on the lower right side of the engine and it goes right in to the transmission obviously.
4)disconnect the lines and turn the car on and off very quickly while someone is watching the lines to see which way the fluid is flowing. from there we attached a long section of the hose that comes with the tranny cooler.
5)take off the plastic piece that is in between the lights and runs from one quarter panel to the other
6)unbolt the plates that hold the radiator in place and lean the radiator back.
7)using something like the end of a coathanger or another small piece of metal make small holes (careful to do this in between the lines that run on the radiator) in the places that correspond with whatever holes you may have made in the transmission cooler
8)put the transmission cooler against the front radiator and put the pins that come with it throught the holes, put the bolts that come in the package with the tranny cooler on the ends of the pins, then cut the ends of the pins (plastic) so you can put the back radiator back in place
9)cut the long piece of hose you connected to the transmission fluid line (or that is replacing the transmission fluid line) in the middle and put the ends on the ends of the transmission cooler.
10)put every thing back together and voila

BTW, just in case if you guys don't know, the Accord instruction is good for 99 TL (4 speed) only. 2000+ TL has different design. Sure you can install the cooler, but you will have to find another place near the tranny to place the cooler, or you will have to buy very long hose.
Seems that the new TL 's tranny is being cooled by the coolant system (with the engine). I am not 100% sure tho., just by looking at the way things being put together...

haven't been able to get a digital camera yet.....the transmission line runs into the radiator. the tranny cooler goes in between the radiator and the transmission on the return side. still have to find a digital camera. would go buy one but then that would be less $ that i can spend on my TL
Transmission fluid is the only fluid that flows through a transmission, no coolant! Coolant runs through the engine block chambers and throttle body for cooling and anti-freezing. They are two totally different things. And yes, you just have to add a little back since during the install, a tiny bit of fluid leaks out of the stock cooling lines.
Thanks, sorry I thought some of them had coolant because they refer to it as fluid and not oil. Also some of those hoases look huge in diameter so I didn't think they were oil because I didn't see how they kept the pressure. Thanks again for clearing it up.
Hey trd... can you show me more pic of the hoses... where it is connect from both ends.. i know one end goes to the intercooler but i dunno where the other end goes... please help..i just brought one today and would like to know more about it before i start.... thanks alot..

Wait a minute people!!!!!
The 99' TL's cools down the tranny by running the tranny fluid(Lubricant) throught the cooling system throught different lines.
On the 00'TL's and up use coolant (antifreeze) to cool the tranny.
I will hardly believe that adding another radiator will make a difference.
