Our replacement transmission was installed with Z1 (per the service order paperwork). Its past due for a fluid change, and I happen to have SIX quarts of Z1

Should I ditch the Z1 and just buy 9 qts of DW1 for the 3x3, or should I just use the Z1 for the first 2 of the 3x3, then finish with 3 fresh qts of DW1?

Im not sure anyone wants to buy Z1 anymore, so I have a feeling Ill be better off at least putting it to some use even if its just to drain it after a week or two.

you can put either one
use the z1 first to get rid of it and then put dw1
dw1 is just revised z1 fluid
z1 is replaced by dw1

 

Ill take it off your hands if you are in NJ. My legend prefers the Z1

 

Honda DW-1 is the replacement oil for the Z-1. I would use the new stuff over the old. The new oil DW-1 is much better than its replacement IMO.

 

I would do as post 2 said.. Use the Z1 to replace the oil fluid in the trans so the DW-1 doesn't get contaminated when you fill it in..
It will give you the full benefits of the Synthetic DW-1 and longer service life..
