Trans. replaced - now rough idle????

trans. replaced at 47K - wasn't really bad but I got the recall and dealer went ahead and ordered a new trans. The old trans. worked just fine but I decided to go ahead and have it replaced. After the replacement the motor idles weird. In neutral its smooth then skips - smooth then skips in a repeating pattern. If I have the brakes on or its in park I dont notice it. I can feel it sitting in the seat or feel it in the steering wheel. I thought I would reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a bit and it worked. Ran smooth for a few minutes and then started the rough idle. Any ideas??

Thanks

I kinda get the same thing. Had my tranny recalled about 5000 miles ago. Idle is smooth then a lil rough, then smooth then a lil rough, etc. Don't thing its nething to worry about.

ask dealer to check ur idle, they might need to increase it if its really rough.

Try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery and then give it some gas to about 3000rpms and let it just sit there @ 3000 rpms until the fan kicks in. Then let it idle for another 5-10 minutes and shut her off.

Thats the idle learn procedure. By doing this, you train the ECU so the idle is smoother. If you don't do it, it could take a long time for the car to learn how to idle smoothly.
