yes some people said they feel less power. i dont think this is true. the new trannys are alot better and i think they might of fixed the issue with the past tranny problems.

It apparently gets rid of the shift lags so you might see improvement in 1/4 mile times!

I haven't noticed any differences since my new tranny, then again I had my headers put in at the same time so I guess I wouldn't. I don't remember that thread so if someone could explain what this loss of power is. Thanks!

I haven't noticed any differences in power. Also, I must have missed out on the "snappier" shifting tranny. It still has lag, feels a tad worse than the factory tranny.

Trannys replaced after Sept. 2002 also have the ECU swapped out. The new ECU has reprogrammed shift points --- The car wont try upshifting to 5th gear so easily (to prevent engine lagging while driving at low speeds) and the roughly 1/2 sec delay in the shift between 2nd and 3rd is eliminated too.

If you read the NHTSA report on the acura-cl.com site (under the transmission failure forum) .. you'll see why Acura reprogrammed the shift points. They found that their hardward couldn't handle what the software was telling it to do. Therefore, rather than upgrading the physically tranny, they reworked the software .. hence .. the new Ecu.

I had my tranny replaced a little while ago... I have approx 2000 miles on the new tranny and the car is as fast as it was, the power is still there too.

I actually think the car shifts faster and better in auto now compaired to before... Same in SS.

I just brought my 2001 TL in at 49K miles because the tranny started "catching" between gears, (first time it did it, I thought I lost a wheel!). They are replacing it currently, and I'll try to ascertain what difference there is in the performance if any and report back.

Hoping to get it back by the first of the week. The Jetta they put me up in isn't bad, but I sure miss the power of the TL!

More Later-
