congrats rb!!!!
from 2500 to nothing? make sure to purchase the 3/36 trans warranty for 300 dollars- good peace of mind and give something back for `the hookup`

Is mario a ziner? and service writer?- how did the hookup occur- help others --pay it forward with more info!

If they find a broken front motor mount- very common- have it replaced for 30 bucks labor with trans removed- easy to reach compared to normal price of 2 hours or so
part runs $100-130 depending on dealer markup, 150 total installed is decent deal

take mario a box of donuts or popsicles depending on the weather, as thanks for the Goodwill, enough to share with his buddies will generate more goodwill your way

$2500? i was told i had to pay $1842 and acura will cover $1960 thats a total of $3800.

my car has been there since March 29th.. I told them i dont think i should have to pay $1800 for something that was replaced less than 2 years ago..... i may just have to find a used one

keep WRITING to corp asking for more help- only 2 years on a rebuilt should be covered,,
since they offer a 3 year warranty for sale $300 if you copay some on goodwill-
but only 12 month if total warranty--screwy~

keep plugging away- mention this thread on acurazine.com and ask for total coverage or 500 for your part

the total trans replacement cost varies across the country- 3800 is the lowest I have seen- average 4000 up to 5000 in high market areas

used TL trans are a maybe,,maybe it needs a rebuild too! no way to know until its in,,
any part like that sits for a while,,, it goes bad, rubber seals dry up...

yours may not need many parts if you go to a private trans shop- make sure they have done several TL trans and can provide referances from those customers
its about 2500 if you need everything on a 100kmiles trans- you may just need a few clutches for very little parts cost and 10 hours labor

Whats your trans doing? what did the dealer say as failure cause?

ya i dont know who he is there but i had my mom call and he happend to be ther person on the phone and there gonna have it done by friday and i wont be home to play with her unitll monday. but i will deff buy the warranty, and the best way to handle it is experess that you know about the recall and stuff, but most of all that you are very loyal to acura and you want to deal with them and ive saved alot of money by just doing that. Let them know about acurazine and offer to put their name on here for business. good luck every one and thanks for the help!!

i ran the OBDII scanner and i got the P1704 code at first... one day i was getting on the expressway and the car slipped going into 4th...... i decided to go home and at every red light the car would rev and then jump into gear... im going to call them again tomorrow..... the only thing the dealer did was test drive the car and then come back to tell me that my transmission was gone and he almost got stranded.....

Wow, that didn't do a thing for me...we've owned 4 Acuras in my family and I played that card to the max. Acura corp said no way...maybe its cuz I just bought the car?? The dealer did give me a discount on labor though...although it didn't even cover the cost of sales tax. I'm confident I won't be buying another Acura after this...I had such high hopes too. Oh well...

corp is full of shit....basically what im being told is since i only bought one vehicle from them and i dont take my car in to get serviced by them, those are some of the factors as to why they came to the decision they made. whats the point of paying a dealer to do simple shit that i've been doing myself i.e. oil changes, spark plug changes, tire rotations etc...

I remember when my tranny failed, the first question the dealership asked me was did I buy the car there, do I get my oil changes there, etc...Since they took care of me, I continue to go back there for oil changes and minor crap, JUST IN CASE my tranny goes again. I know I can do some stuff myself and still do, but I try to see my dealership at least 2-4 times a year. Develop a relationship with them, take 'em pizza or donuts and they will remember you when and if that tranny goes....cheap insurance..

I never took them pizza before-

but donuts and popsicles- you bet I bribe the service manager and staff now and then--and it has paid me back several times over in returned Goodwil~

My personal update.

I talked to the service manager and she told me to gather all of my service records so she could show them to Acura corp. She found a lot wrong with the car but nothing having to do with the trans. And the re-call part is do today so I got to keep the loaner car all week! SWEET!

So my mechanic is pulling all of my records together for me. I'll be back with an update later!

Oh they really liked the idea of all 10's in the survey!

its very common to find the front and often passenger side mount broken with trans job
front breaks and goes unnoticed then side is taking more load and fails

Its the first time anyone really looked at the mounts is when its on the lift and tech knows they fail- so inspect!-
its very easy to replace front mount with trans out- part is 120 or so and labor 30 dollars --with trans in they charge more like 3 hours labor!!

rear mount would be same price as front and not affected by trans out as far as I know... which isnt much on that detail~ for labor ask service manager..
SOMETIMES the service writer forgets to change the computer to `With trans removed` so it spits out the full price,,,ooops

the front and rear mounts are hydraulic fluid filled, and some years are vac boosted- so a bad one will cause a slight running problem too
they break on most TL's after 50-60kmiles, very very common as we need a torque bar for the engine to reduce mount load stress

Get the front done now at dealer for cheap labor and DIY the rear if its really needed and labor is too much but if they say both do both and ask for old parts
They are not trying to bleed you dry but those mounts are critical
whats the 400 for? install of trans or warranty for 3 years???
They are still hooking you up- could be standing there looking at 4 grand like a week ago right?!

the service writer forgot to change the hours with trans removed for labor is all- call and ask for it to be corrected
you need to be speaking with a service MANAGER at this point- they should not be making a mistake like this

as said before- mounts are in the $120 range each, and labor front is .3 of 1 hour or 30 dollars at 100 per hour with trans removed = 150 front mount total
I dont know about rear mounts labor

read what I said again- .3 of 1 hour, is 30 dollars at a rate of 100 per hour
that is the labor charge `with trans removed` to replace front mount
