Trannys for $750!??

Trannys for $750!??
I just spoke to some local tranny shops about getting my 99' TL tranny fixed/replaced... got quoted from $700 (rebuilt) - $1755 (used). I got 167K miles on mine, so no 100% warranty from Acura for me! 
anyway, the shops even said they can honor up to a 3year/36K warranty on their trannys! (the one that quoted $750 even!!). Even if the Acura dealer gives me a a 50% goodwill offer, I can still get it done for much cheaper and w/ a 3 year warranty. Check out the tranny shop ads in the Recycler (LA area). Sure beats that $5500 OEM price... Just gonna keep the ride for 3 years anyways. Every shop knew about the crappy original trannys that came with the cars too. One was enven working on an 03.'
