Tranny time

The inevitable has occurred...time for a new tranny

02 TL P - I had the jet kit installed at around 40K and had never experienced any tranny problems before or after.

At 72K, I could feel the tranny slip between the 2nd and 3rd gear change. Sometimes a clunk as well. Then the shift to reverse was slipping.

The dealer has been great so far. I have a loaner and they say it should be about a week and a half before i get my car back.

Is there any way that I can make sure I get a quality trans installed and not some remanufactured p.o.s.?

I love my TL and would like to enjoy it for many years but I don't know if I can trust the tranny.

I've read many threads where people go through multiple trannys

any thoughts?

Dealer will only install remanufactured units. It won't be a brand new tranny. Don't know if the latest ones are any better than before.

Guys. FYI The oil jet does nothing to correct the problem. Its for a completly different one

2nd Remanufactured doesnt mean crap. There is no reason to replace all teh parts. thats just stupid and over costly. They will replace the worn parts and parts that wear. You Will be getting a tranny thats as good as new (granted its put together correctly) Now is there any thing you can do to make sure you get a quality tranny NO. You can ask to see if they can find out when the rebuild date was on the tranny, but not sure if that info is available. The new designed parts were introduced after feb of 05
