Tranny problem still a problem....

Well, the saga continues.... I called the dealer yesterday to see what was up with our car. I got the typical there is nothing wrong with it and it's in spec. My guess is they will not replace the trans until it locks completely up and strands us somewhere. Have any of you had the dealer replace a slipping tranny or will they not touch it till it locks up? It's slipping between 2-3 & 3-4, and occasionaly in sport shift it will not shift at all. I have to pull the car over and put it in park, then back into drive and then get going again. The thing that bothers me the most is the performance of the car has diminished. I called my rep at Acura client services three times last week and has not returned my call. My wife is getting pretty fed up and has said if we like the new design of the 03', let's trade it in on a 6 speed TL-S and we won't have to worry about the auto trans. All in all a good idea, but it pisses me off that I will almost have that 00' paid off, then right back into payments again....

Don't let the dealer win. Keep hounding them until they fix it right.

It may sound a bit radical... but have them keep the car for a day or two. Let the service manager drive it home and experience the problem for himself.

Although everything tests out ok at the time, it's next to impossible to replicate problems that occur after tens of thousands of miles during a 200 foot test drive at the dealer. Your dealer needs to err on the side of caution and assume that you wouldn't be wasting your time repeatedly visiting there and complaining if there wasn't really a problem.

Good luck in any case.
