Nearly the same as the new Accord's tranny, however .. check the ratios on the Honda site and compare w/ ours... gears 1, 2, and 3 are identical .. 4 and 5 are more aggressively geared.

It's a whole different transmission. The Prelude has a 2.0 liter 4cyl (IIRC) and the TL is 3.2 V6... very different in sizes and thus, completely different trannies.

Engine size doesn't matter when it comes to the transmission. It might have different gear ratios depending on horsepower, but more importantly, the mass of the vehicle. I don't know anything about the Prelude's transmission, so I'm not saying you're wrong on that one. But you seem to be under the impression that transmission choices depend on the size of the engine.

For example, my 4500+ lb Tahoe with a 5.7L V8 has the 4L60E transmission. Say, the Impala (don't have one, just an example)weighs 3500~ lb with a 3.8L V6. Transmission? 4L60E. The gear ratios vary slightly because the Tahoe has more mass to move then again the difference in horsepower probably makes up for it. Nonetheless, the gear ratios will vary a little bit, but it's the same tranny.
