Tranny flush question

For everyone thats done one, how much does a shop usually charge? I'm getting mine done right now from a Honda ASE certified shop for an abnormally low price. just wanted to know if thats the case or the previous shops try to rip me off

The ACURA dlr by me charges $90 to drain 3 and fill 3...
If u know how to change oil then you would have no problem changing ATF just make sure they use ATF Z-1.. or go by the fluid for $27 and do it yourself!

Remember make sure the use ATF Z-1 and make sure they dont use one of those power flush machines!

What r u talking about...

A tranny change is drining 3 quarts and refilling 3 new quarts..
A tranny overhaul is doing the 3x3 method that would prob cost $300-$400 cuz they have to drain 3 fill 3 and drive through the gears , now they just go through the gears while on the lift so save time.. they have to do that 3-4 times so that would cost 3 or 4 x $90.. what r u talking about actual flush?

dont use the word FLUSH and Acura in the same sentance-
machine powered push or suction machines are not compatible with our transmission- there is even a plate to prevent suction via the filler hole- must use the drain plug

If your fluid was low there is a leak and thats a major problem... to be fixed before worrying about just changing the fluid!!

Acuras opinion on how much fluid and when to do it keeps changing with the years of experience
Smartest for owners of warranty replacement trans to get on a change program of 3x1 and stay on it forever

check the fluid level per the owner book method- most cars drain a tick over 3 qts and the tech may have only put in 3 and called it done

The job is easier than a regular engine oil change- drain bolts very near each other, and no spin on filter to replace
(there is external filter that can be replaced but not required)

A overhaul is gonna cost you about $90 just in fluid so the people just prob drained 3 and filled 3.

seriously, it was a snap. me and my brother bought 14 quarts for $98.xx at the dealer and split them. did the 3 out, 3 in twice and topped it off a bit. ill prbly just do a 3x1 every 7k miles or so like mentioned above

I think that the way to do it do a flush 3 and fill 3 for the next 3 or 4 oil changes and then dont worry about it for a year or two... that way u r not putting new fluid in all at once where if there is some build up it will get caked up in the clutch packs but you are slowly getting some fresh fluid in there and taking some dirty fluid out!

yup, well my tranny was replaced before i got the car, so it just turned 30k at that time. hence the 2x. it shifts smooth and no leaking or smelly stuff so im hoping everything stays fine

the dealer told me, drain 3 add 3 every 30k miles. they did not recommend the 3x3 method when i asked them about it. i dont know why.

but it looks like the normal now at the dealer, drain 3 and add 3 every 30k miles. i will prob do it every 20k just as a safe guard.

the original recommended service says first change of the tranny fuild at 120k miles - epic fail
