I changed my own oil and tranny fluid. For the tranny fluid, I ALWAYS use Honda ATF!

Why not buy it from a dealer? You can also get it from a Honda dealer if you're opposed to going to an Acura dealer for some reason.

I bought my Honda ATF from the Acura dealer. It is $7 a quart!:wow: The manual says 3 quart when you change the tranny fluid.

Acura dealers suck when it comes to transmission fluid change. I did it at tires plus. They charge me $40 for a full exchange, that means all 7.5 quarts of old fluid is out and new 7.5 quarts is in. They do this with a machine that conects to the transmission fluid cooling lines. The machine collects the old fluid and let's the new fluid in. It works like a miracle. The question is if it could be do on the 00 and up TL's ???? I'm not sure, but I know it can be done on the 99 TL's. The 00 and up TL's have water cooled transmissions, so there is no transmission cooling line running to the bottom half of the radiator. So you figure that out.

are you boys changing the filter also? i was reading a dyno of fluid made by purple something. they make fluid for power steering, trans, and oil. they changed all the fluids and it increased the hp on the dyno like 8%. this was done on a syndicated hot rod show on cable.

I thought 9 qts was needed to do the proper flush & fill? I did this myself last weekend, and my dealer charged $3 per qt.

The company you are refering to is Royal Purple.
I have their 5W30 in the engine and so far it seems to a good oil.
As far as the tranny oil.. in the manual ('02 TL) They say you MAY use regular Dextron III fluid but change it at the first opportunity.
It seems the Honda/Acura is not a regular Dextron/Mercron III tranny fluid.
So when it comes time for a fluid change... its gonna be from Acura.
