I read here that there have been 27 '02 tranny failures, and 1 (maybe 2) '03's. Does anyone have any idea how many people on the board actually own a 02/03 TL? Would be nice to get some sort of ratio as to the owners vs. failures.

I saw that before, but I wonder if it is accurate in including everyone on here who owns one. It is certainly more likely for someone to post and/or vote if they did have a problem.

Remember that this is a forum which actually represent like less than 1% of the total owners out there.

 

There are 27 people out of the few thousand members of this site..And the members of this site represent a TINY portion of all acura TL's out there...Yes, I agree there is a problem with the transmissions, maybe a early production problem, maybe just a random problem that some unlucky cars got affected with, who really knows, but in all acutality, its a VERY VERY small problem. If it were a big problem acura would have done something already.The reason why acura doens't seem to be doing anything about the tranny problem is because for every person that has a problem, there are thousands upon thousands who dont, so as a large auto manufacturer, acura sees no reason to recall or help in compensation with people who have experienced tranny problems. All they can do is replace under warranty.
