Tranny failure
For all of those who have lost a Tranny.....did you have engine mods to your car? would you say you drove it hard? I'm trying to guage if mine is likely to go out as well. I have a 2002 with 28k miles.

there were soo many threads on this topic...
anyways, long story short, "apparently" many people who had failed trannies drove like "grandmas"
but many people drive their cars like they stole them, and there's no problem, so it "might" not have anything to do with driving style

If it's gonna go, it's gonna. I don't worry about the issue and am buying and extended warranty. People of all driving habits have been affected by this malady, at all mileage ranges, so I don't worry. I just drive like I stole my car
(apologies to STi).

For the one week I had it I drove my car like a grandma (no insurance, etc) and suddenly the tranny just gave out. The previous owner had put all highway miles on it (all records were there, and the previous owner was a salesman) The car has no mods whatsoever.
