tranny - classy of acura

a buddy of mine told me that he has a friend who bought a TLs about a year ago. and since he bought it, has gone through 4 transmissions. well, acura has just offered to buy back his car. (he says he may go with 2003 TLs) but i just thought i should let you guys know. u know, even with all this i hear about transmission failures... acura has handled it with class. good job acura.

(now make a car that can compete with an M5... and i might get that instead of an M5 as my next car)

It's too bad that guy doesn't browse these boards, otherwise he would have known to file for the lemon law after his 3rd transmission went out. But it is good to hear he was taken care of by Acura, eventually. As for your own next car, why not get an NSX? Much more rare and exotic than an M5 if you ask me.

Don't you think it was better of Acura to voluntarily buy it back then have to pursue under the lemon law?

I agree it is a few classy thing to do and I hope I get the same treatment if the time ever comes which I sincerely hope it does not.

the 4th time?? i wouldn't call that classy, i'd consider that the least they could do.

damn, if my tranny went 4 times i would be f'in pissed. from acura's point of view, it was prolly just cheaper to buy back the car. how much does 4 new trannys cost?

Just for the trannies right. That's what I though it's like 7 years or 100K.
