Exclamation A tragedy has occurred NAVI STOLEN

I get out of work last night, and as I'm walking towards my car, I notice the little tringle window in the back is broken, I immieditly open the front door and see this:

I was at a loss of words and was terrified when I saw this....

If anybody could help me, then that would be a big help to me right now.

I had a Pioneer Z1 installed, and upgraded the hard drive to 60GB, and upgraded the software to the Z3, and also had a custom Acura boot-up image. The serial # for my navi is: FHMH017418UC

I'm putting up a reward of $100 for anyone that helps me find my navi or the son of a bitch that did this. I know its not much but thats about all I can afford to give away right now...

that is some bullshit right there..find that bitch and destroy him... sorry to see that man, hope your deductible is low. I think thieves troll this site and then zero in on where people are and they take shit that ain't theirs. Or, some crackhead walking by and looked in..who knows...this shit makes my blood boil

^^^^gaaaddddaammmm, that sux. Keep an eye on your local craigslist and ebay postings..if they are local you and a buddy can go by to take a look at it and check the serial number..if it matches, ass whooppin time...

I did a craigslist search for NYC on Pioneer Z1, but no results..but check it each day just in case...here is the search link http://newyork.craigslist.org/search...min&maxAsk=max

make sure you file a police report if you haven't done so already

wow people don't respect shit. Where did this happen at?

Whoever did this needs a lug wrench to the skull.

On a side note...where did you get that bowling ball dash trim kit? Does it hold up well?

This happened on in Queen, NY on Queens Blvd and 83rd Ave. I work at the Board of Elections which is right on the corner, and usually come out to check on my car every few hours, and last time I checked it was at 2:30 pm, went back to work, and next time at 7 pm I came out, and thats what I saw...

I called the police right away, they showed up at about 9:20 pm, and took a report, but they didn't really want to, they said that since I only have liability coverage that a police report wouldn't help me. They also said that they aint starting no investigation for a navi...even though I told that that it cost $2100 for the navi, plus all the parts, wiring, panels, etc..., would come out to over $2600, he said they still wouldn't start to investigate...

I spoke to Pioneer to see if they could maybe track down the navi cause it as GPS, but they said that they have no way of doing that

I also just spoke to Geico to see if they could help me in any way, all they did was make a claim for "informational purposes only". I also got a quote for comp coverage, and its gonna cost $350 extra with a $500 deductible...

Thats waaay out of my budget, so I'm really not sure what I'm gonna do right now...

if I were you, I wouldn't drive the TL to work. maybe get a old accord or just take the subway. without full coverage, driving your TL around queens is a disaster waiting to happen

sucks to hear man, shit like that happens every minute in NYC, it really doesnt pay to have a nice car there unless you garage it all the time, and not left on the streett. Its gonna be very hard to find it, cuz they prolly took the id tag off or scratched it off, good luck tho man...

Aftermarket units are magnets to car thieves. Invest in a top-grade alarm system with interior space monitoring.

The Police report should get the serial number entered into a nationwide stolen sheet, thats how Pawn Shops check stuff before they accept it
You notified the maker so its in the hot list too

Did it have a security code like the stock nav does?

There are glass shops that work with auto recycler yards and can get a window for less and good condition.
Same yard may be of help on panels and such

It really shows- if you work where you check on your car every 2 hours- assumedly to see if its been stolen yet????.....or just broken in to???
Knowing its not a great area to park----with a $2500 steal me sign visable thru the window....
What you cant afford to insure with $100 deductable, doesnt belong in/on the car

I'm really sorry man, I hope you find it somehow. That's not right at all. You need to get an alarm with motion sensors so it goes off before they even get in the car.

ok seriously this isn't even mine and i'm fuckin pissed off. i'd seriously kill thieves/robbers on the spot if i could. probably have my boys jump them, beat them with a bat, and let my dogs finish them. i have absolutely no simpathy for this kind of shit.

if yo'ure on here scouting who to rob next, get a freakin life. we take pride and joy in our cars. if you faggots ever get caught, you'll drown in your own blood. no joke.

Man, I hate it for you. And yeah, whoever did that needs to be bloodied up a WHOLE lot. But I will say, this should be a wake up call to everyone on this site to get FULL insurance coverage. It may cost a little more each month, but damn if it wouldn't pay for itself in situations like this.

What was the estimated value of the system?

i know there's a time and place for optimism in a tragedy like this...

...but at least you still have the car. it really sucks that the nav/stereo is gone, but you still have something to re-install a replacement into.

feel for your pain, bro.

Unfortuantly the Z1 or any other Pioneer navi doesn't have any type of security system...

I'm gonna get intouch with the precint that I filed my report with and give them the serial # of the navi so that they could enter it into the nationwide stolen sheet like you said.

I already notified Pioneer about it, but unfortunatly they said they have no way of tracking it.

And the neighborhood that I work at is actually a very good neighborhood, very quit, clean, with lots of great people. There's a courthouse right across the street from my job, and tons of stores along Queens Blvd, the only reason I was checking up on my car was to put more quarters into the meter, cause I gotta fill it up every 2 hours

So when this happened, it was TOTATLY unexpected, especially right across the street from a court, but to make things even worse, it's gonna cost me around $3,000 to get everything fixed up back to the way it was, cause my Z1 alone cost me $2100...

Did the alarm not go off while this guy was breaking into your car? I assumed he broke the window and opened the door. I still cant figure out why he broke that window and not the front one.

Damn dude, that's a little under half of what I paid for my entire '99 TL, and I carry full coverage.

My rule of thumb/quick insurance lesson:

If your car breaks down on the side of the road and you can afford to pull the plates and leave it there........that's the ONLY time you can afford to carry liability only. ANY other time, put full coverage on it with a $1000 deductible if it's paid for, $500 deductible if it's not.

I feel for you buddy. BTW, my TL is my wifes car. I drive a $400 '91 Escort as a daily driver. I carry liability only on that car!!

2-way alarm is only as good as how quickly you can get to the car. Ones with 1-mile radius ... what's the point? It'll take you at least 5 minutes to get to your car (unless you're Usain Bolt or something ...)

I feel bad for the OP. I've been to NYC many times while growing up (at least 10 times) and I know that you can't leave anything inside your car unless you want it stolen. Having a TL there with a nice deck ... that's just asking for trouble (unless you can park it in a secure location, not the street).

Hope something more can be done to locate the Z1 but in all honesty, I seriously doubt it. Stuff like this happens all the time and the police are probably overwhelmed with thefts. Maybe just find a used OEM deck (or cheap replacement deck) and call it a day. Buy a Garmin or other portable GPS if you want that functionality and disconnect it each time you walk away from you car.

My ins. co. wouldn't provide full coverage because of a salvage/rebuilt title.

If you cant afford the extra insurance, might as well leave you car stock. No point in making it a thief magnet.

Does your work have cameras in the parking lot, maybe some of the stores near your car had cameras that looked out towards your car. Ask the owners if you can view their tapes, maybe you could see who the thieves are or turn the tape into the police? Just throwing some ideas at your bro.
