Trading in The '02 TL
Hey Guys,
How much of a $$ hit would I take if I traded in my '02 Anthracite TL-P for a '03 TL-S? It has about 10K miles on it now. Thanks for the input!

I would guess a 4-6k hit but it might depend on where you live. My friend sells at the local Ford dealer and he recently had an 02 TLS non-navi with 5k miles that they gave the guy $25000 for, they were asking $29900 for it.
If you had your car a year and they only take $5k off, sounds like a good deal!
Depending on how long you've had your car for that's not a bad deal.
Think about it like this- the average lease for the TL-S run you about $450/month (I know, some more, some less... this is just conjecture). 450x12 = $5400, so it costs roughly that to drive your TL-S for the year.
Now if you've had your car for a year and you trade it in for a new one, and they take $5000 off the sticker price, you're a little bit ahead of the game, and you have yourself a brand new car.
This, of course, does not take into account finance or bank charges, which are usually unique to the purchaser.
Make sense?

Why dont u just wait for the redesigned TL in fall of 03.. That way you will ultimately be saving money. Trust me, you cannont feel the difference between the TL-S and the TL-P unless ur in the high rmp. Handleing is slightly better in the TLS but thats basicly it. so in another words, you are willing ti take that 5 -6 k drop in your current car and pay the difference of a TLS and your car which is another 10k . All in all are you willing to spend another 15k for the SAME car.
i agree with just keeping the TL-P, i have a CL-P and i wanted to trade in for a cl-s, but it's not worth it. just wait until the newer and better version comes out. that's what i am doing.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm just getting antsy with my car and I'm trying to justify headers/exaust/intake etc when I'd just be dropping more than 2K just to i could TRY and run w/ a TL-S. What if any of the mods do you think might fit on the projected '03 redesign of the TL-S? I'm a college student on a somewhat of an imposed budget so I don't want to make any dumb financial choices. I mean I love my car and i'm thinkin' I might just live with the reality that I'm lucky as hell to drive a TL-P and do what I can with it. Thanks again!
