Trade In

Hey guy's, Carmax offered me 14,000 for my 02 Anthracite Metallic TL-P no navi with 49,000 miles on it. Is this fair, should i take it? Will i get more by selling it to a used car or Acura Dealer?
Thanks for the replies

Short changing you about $500 - still a good deal.

That's my exact car and mileage, and $14,000?

That's awful. I got $15,500 for an 01 Accord EX I4 5MT with cloth seats.

Carmax will ask close to $20,000 for that car.

EDIT: I think you'll get more by trading it elsewhere.

Do the Accords deppreciate slower? Do you think that an Acura dealer will offer more?

Try KBB.com and see what you come up with - I used my Zip Code - and did it as Good condition - Excellent condition will yield $15,700 - again this is for a Trade in only not as a private sale.

Okay, i just did KBB.com and for good condition, they listed 14,175 for trade in value. I went to a used car dealership this morning and they told me that they can get 02 TL's for 12,500 from the dealer auction. He said that the Carmax figure of $14000 is my best bet. Should i take that or keep waiting?

Given that, I would say take it if you don't want to go through all the hassle of a private sale. But a private sale could get you a bit more as far as returns are concerned.

IMO, 14k isn't bad...14.5 or 15 would be more fair.

I paid 16,500 for the same exact car but with about 5,000 more miles on it in May '04.
