touchup paint!

I purchased the touch-up paint from the dealer but found that the paint did not cover the paint chip. The paint seemed to be very thin and even with multiple coatings the black under coating still showed through. (I have a sliver car)

if its a big chip you will need a filler kit first--see parts store display
prep kits have bondo filler-sand paper- primer paint etc
cant expect paint to cover severe stuff- its a top coat of 3 layers
then sand down- more layers if needed, sand down, repeat until you are happy
let dry a few days and apply good wax

for the most part, paint is just paint and doesn't really matter where you buy it from as long as you find your color code. i got mine from www.touchuppaintonline.com before for $11, but that's only because i couldn't find it i pep boys.

dealer will carry a FEW of the gen2 colors and can order the rest
Thats for the pen sized touch up size
a paint/body shop mixes pints and larger with a recipe from machine, similar to home paint coloring
then adjust it slightly based on the techs experience,, to match your car
It may take a few tries to get an exact match to faded paint- but it can be done--and these plastic bumpers are a pita anyway

If the rest of your paint isn't too faded you can always do it your self.
use the duplicolor OEM paint match, get some primer (I have dark color so I use gray) and the OEM paint spray and the clear coat
Take off your bumper
sand it all off (the old stuff)
Spray three-four THIN coats of primer
Use as many THIN coats of paint as you'd like
Spray 3/4 THIN coats of clear coat.
viola! done.
