Hi I'm new. I tried searching, but I didn't come up with much.

I have an 03 TL-S non-Navi. I was thinking about building a carputer, but wanted to keep the stock headunit. I was thinking about installing the NAVI dash, move the HVAC to the navi-stock location, and install a lilliput or xenarc/gain touchscreen in the NAVI dash hole without using the actual acura Navi Unit. Unfortunately, I couldn't find dimensions for the hole that the navi leaves. Would a 7" screen fit? would it be too small/too big? with or without housing?

If anyone has done this already, I'd love to see photos.

where do u plan on putting the HVAC controls? and how will you make them fit?

 

I was reading the DIY non-navi to navi guide, and it seems that the HVAC controls should be able to be moved pretty easily to the navi-stock location (above stock head unit, in the little storage thingy)

 

r u sure? tehy're preety big. Do u have the link for that?

The stock HVAC controls for the TL without navi are much bigger than the ones with navi. And for the HVAC controls that are made for the TL with navi, half of the functions of the controls are on the Navi screen.

 

the only controls on screen are the manual fan adjustments...which i never use anyways. I had only assumed that the HVAC controls on the navi version would still work without the screen.

 

Ah, I understand now. Let me clarify -- I don't want to use the non-navi climate control. I want to purchase the navi climate control and forget about the manual fan controls on screen since I won't use them anyways.
