Yeah I did one spot on mine and I wasn't impressed with the pen. I'd rather have one with a small brush like nail polish

clean area with rubbing alcohol
mask closely with painters blue tape
Use thin layers to build it up.
Use wet clay bar/detailing bar or ultra fine wet/dry sandpaper between coats
Let cure fully and wax 3 times
Put a 3M clear bra on after and forget about it- thats life

You can buy fine tip brushes for cheap and put a litttle paint in a bottle cap

Good Luck

...... does the clay bar make the small chips look better and blend it in?

No - let me clarify- you are not sanding the surrounding area down- just the repair

It, claybar, acts as a sandpaper to remove a little of the paint you just put on and rough the surace for the next coat- the repair has to be higher eventually, then sanded down a final leveling time.

I would use proper 1000-1500 wet/dry paper but offer the option to those with clay bar in their detail kits

If you have done bondo or house spackle repairs you get the idea of building it up- let it dry - sand it- build it up repeat repeat repeat
The 3m clear bra you install yourself, goes 2 feet up the hood from the front- the worst impact zone- and will hide many flaws

There is also a $12 kit with a primer and body filler material to build up bad nicks before final color applied- ask any auto parts store

Buy some Langka smoother- works great. Follow directions.

Look it up on the web, key word Langka.

No blobs. Takes some practice.

the pen is a good alternative. used it with fine results. practice on a piece of cardboard or sheet metal before touching up on car.

i bought the paint pen from pepboys, and it matches perfect, it's like a ball point pen, but you can open it, and it has a paint brush (like nail polish) on the inside.... It matched a lot better, and went on smoother than the paint pen that i bought from a sponsored sale we had like years ago from acura. The one with the felt tips, and had one side color, other side clear....
