touch up paint on my TL-S
i know im being anal about this but i was inspecting the front end of my TL and noticed i have 2 mini chips in the bumper and a scrape along the bottom of my oem kit about 2 inches long ... i know the front end takes a beating, but will applying touch up paint make it look better, or will it not blend in well with the rest of the car's paint? I know i attempted repairing rock chips on my maxima with touch up paint and it tdidnt blend at all and you could notice where the touch ups were applied? this car is considerably more expensive and in better condition than my maxima so im a little worried about attempting this. is there anything special i should do when applying it, or is it not even worth it. i know my car is not brand new and it will get its chips now n then but i want to preserve it as much as i can... so will the touch up paint look good, or sloppy? and any tips on how to apply it? thanks.

It works great. 2 chips isn't that bad.

Pens are great for touching up very small scratches and stone nicks. You can more easily control the application of the paint without blobbing too much. It's so easy that you can touch-up after every wash of the car if needed. Because I commute 110 miles a day on the interstate, my TL gets a lot of small nicks.
You can get the same result with bottle paint if you thin it and then use a fine tip quality brush, and then clean the brush. It's just more work than with the pen.

make sure you get the right color code. its in the drivers side door jamb. There were 2 chips on the rear bumper of the TL-S (WDP) a couple years ago, and it looked kind of bad. My mom had some touch-up paint left over for the Civic (Taffeta white?
) so she went ahead and put it on the bumper.

weather or not you need clear coat depends on the touch up paint you buy. The paint will say if oyu need clear applied on top. Most likely it wont if it came from acura. And the best way ive found to apply it is with ah tooth pic. You can fill teh chip better with the tooth pic

k didnt have my camera handy so no pics... i have a slight discoloration with the touch up and the rest of the car + you can still feel the texture of the scratch through numerous coats of paint... anything i can do to blend the colors and make it look and feel like it did before the scratch or at least make the paint blend?

haha i need more then a pen. the whole area is the area where the mud flaps covered. it left discoloring (not dirt or nothing) and it dug into the paint.
i need a whole can.

i know my threads been dead for a few days, just came back from vacation so just trying to follow up... the color is a little off i thought giving it 6 days to dry would help but unfortunately its still a bit discolored... i understand what you mean about it just being a touch up, but would a good compounding help at all? or would i just be wasting my time? im 18 so yeah money is a huge issue ..esp after dropping 15k on the car itself... so would compounding help or if i want anything closer to perfection am i going to have to get it repainted?
