One of my customers just hit a deer with his suburban in the front 2300.00

You probably need to replace the hood, both quarter panels, front bumper, maybe both headlights. That`s just the body, who knows what happened to the rest of front end, engine etc...

If you can do the work yourself.. probably not. To have the Dealer/Auto body shop do it... maybe.

If you have a garage, tools and time... you may be able to pocket some cash.

That's totalled at a body shop if the bumper is recessed.

You can fix it up to make it look OK, but the it looks like the frame is a little bent.

Just a question.. Did you not put your breaks full on? It looks like the deer took a nap in front of you while you plowed in to it under acceleration.

Sometimes they just jump out.

I don't get why they put the deer crossing signs in such dark and rural places. Why not put them in better spots where the deer can be easily seen?

Hey Gtfo, depending upon the actual wholesale value of your car....the damage may not be enough to total the car.

Alot depends on the car's overall condition and mileage. The damage appears rather superfiscial, maybe a new front clip at $2500 ??? If it gets totalled, buy it back at the salvage price from the insurance co. and have it repaired with recycled parts. Then pocket the difference !!!

Have you ever encountered a deer running out in front of you, especially in a wooded stretch of hwy at night? Many times you never get to see them coming till its too late.

Yes- but generally the deer in Iowa were taller than my lights and chrome colored grill.

That's all i was saying.

Deer ran I swerved on instinct and hit the median on the highway after spinning. Not speeding I was going 60. Both front airbags deployed

I have literally had a deer hit me before. The dumb ... deer just ran in to the side of my car. (Edit: I was at 55 mph)

It's part of living in the mid-west.

Yeah, that happens when ya have roads through the deer's natural habitat.
They tend to get crazy when in rut or being hunted, wouldn't you ?

Gun hunting opens this weekend. If your out and about this is a good time to keep more cautious on the roads. I have a golf course and a huge park by my house. Last month alone seen 50+deer. I do the speed limit and little less around my neighborhood.

What would you like to see happen as the outcome ?
The dealership would quote all new "OEM" parts for replacement, if the car's wholesale is $2000>$3000....good chance that their repair estimate will total it, but the insurance co. adjuster will need to approve their quoted appraisal to be final.

Nice! I like the wheels.

Maybe you should re-direct your fog lights to light up the ditches? Deer eyeballs light up like a Christmas tree when you hit them with light.

But I'm jealous.

Also, consider buying it back at auction. If it can be fixed on the cheap, you can flip it for a pretty hefty profit.

Airbags cost $$$ anyways. It probably would've been totaled on parts cost alone.

Congrats on the new car, though! Looks like a great upgrade.

I'm thinking that the dealership padded the repair appraisal to entice Gtfo with intentions of upgrading and purchasing the newer TL from them.

Nice upgrade! Nice Car!

Few facts: Deer whistles don`t work. But having lights that scan the side of the highway might. Astronomical odds for you to hit another deer. "Be a defensive driver at all times" even for normal driving

The odds are rather great to experience another "deer" incident this particlar time of year, but not quite astronomical !!!

.....at least let's hope not.

Astronomical would mean 1 in billions/trillions. Good call.
