Post Torque Steer?

Ever since my change to CLS 17's with 225/45's, I've noticed a lot more torque steer at WOT in first gear, and the tendency for the tires to catch grooves on the street/highway and the steering wheelyamks in that direction by itself.. I know that the wheel pulling into grooves has to do with wider tires, but from 205 to 225's??...anyone else had this problem????

You not only went wider, but you also went to a much lower profile tire. The lower profile will definitely cause more tracking.

yes my car has considerably more torque steer after the addition of my 17 inch rims with my Pirelli p7000, wheel yanks all the time plus torque steer is greater, it is because of wider tires, lower profile, and wider patches of tread pattern thus responding more to the surface of the road, generally harder the tires result in more feedback of the imperfections in the road...totally normal.

i thought it was just me...I have a rediculous amount of torque steer...almost to the point of being dangerous if i let go of the wheel for a second

hehehe... I get that too from my 225/40/18's. That's one of the reasons why you shouldn't let go of your steering wheels when driving. And hold on to it when you are first pulling away from the stop light... otherwise, you'll hit the car next to you.

As long as it's normal...I'm pretty used to wheels following grooves, as the Miata does it all day long(225/40/16's), and my Last car, the Millenia S had quite some torque steer too..

That's the problem with front wheel drive. I noticed it was missing compared to my parents old Seville STS. Guess I'll get to feel it again when I get my tires on.

Well I upgraded to P7000SS 225/55/16. I feel that the car is pulling to the right...

Maybe I mess up my alignment on the track, but it was like that before I head to the track. I am gonna do an alignment soon and hopefully it will fix my problem. If not maybe it's just because of the road...

If you just changed tires, it's always recommended to do an alignment.
