Top speed on the TL

Top speed on the TL
What is the highest speed you guys have gotten your TL's up to(top speed)?? I got mine up to 142 and it was just running through VTEC in 5th gear (SS of course). I was just curious as to if anyone knows the top speed of the TL? Also, what model do you have?

We went through this before. But since you asked, I have a stock (engine wise) 99TL. I took my TL up to 145 mph and it was still pulling. I think the TL is capable of 150+ mph.

Second you speed past him with all you got...
Third read the speed that he clocked you at on your ticket...
this would be the ultimate proof...

I got it up to 140 about two weeks ago.. crazy fast... too bad you can only really do this during nightime w/o getting caught.
It was Faaaast!! And I know I could've gone even faster because it was still pulling.. but I got scared cuz I was coming up to a bend in the freeway and I had to slow down... Its dangerous, and I don't recommend doing this.. you can kill yourself!!
After going that fast, I found myself cruisin at 105 and that seemed slow.. I thought I was going only 80 but I looked down and saw what I was at..
I think someone posted a while back that thing about the actual speed being off.. also that the speed is governed at 148 or somewhere around there..

SPEEEEEEEDDDD!!!!! thats the one thing that I admire most. I have only done 130 in my car. At that speed, around corners on the freeway.... very scary. Even a slight movement of the hand sends you to the other lane. But I wonder if my speedo is even right. Every day on the way home from work, I am cruising with traffic and doing 80? I dont think so. It feels like I'm doing 60, looks like I'm doing 60, and most of the other cars are doing 60..... so why does my TL lie to me?

well I dont know if you were jokeing or not, but what 6th in a TL?? As far as I know there is no TL with a 6th gear. But I could be wrong, yet I dont think so....
Also, I read in a mag that the TL is electronically limited to 145, and that was a high speed test. I think is was Car and Driver, but dont quote me on that cause I am not positive, I just know it was a ligit test.

i have done around 135-140mph the car still pulling but not hard.I was racing with C43 AMG of cause i got kill.

yea I heard that there was no limiter on the TL as well. I just happened to be fliping through a mag and managed to stumble upon a test of the 2000 TL. At the bottom it said "Top Speed - 145 (electronically limited). But my bro was driving my car one day and he had it at 145 and it was still running through 5th gear. So I think that I am going to lead towards the "no limiter" side cause it is more promiseing.

yeah, hit 146, but will never ever do it again... it's too crazy. the TL has the ability to do 150MPH, but if you haven't tried it yet, don't do it...

see everyone has it all wrong, it's not the speed that kills, it's the sudden stop!!
just joking of course, i like speed as much as the next guy but there is a time and place for everything and i had my stock 2000 tl up to 143 with the 18's on, so i don't know if that was actually 143, probably around 125 in reallity!!

Got up to 200km/h on the weekend (140m/h) while cruising on an open highway with no cars in sight and in broad daylight. Damn the ar is smooth and fast and the car wasnt even shaking. hehe. Even asked my gf if it was ok to speed and she said it was ok. But make sure you dont try it with traffic on the road on if its dry. It can get very scary!
BTW. Caught up to a SLE V6 Solara afterwards and the blonde was speeding with me for about 20 minutes going 140 km/h. Fun
