Lightbulb Top 10 Reasons to Keep my '00

10. At 225hp, I still have 41 more horses than BMW’s cheapest model.

9. Speaking of BMWs, FWD is better in rain and snow.

8. Even though I’m past 40, I’m cooler than the punk kids in my neighborhood, ‘cause I also drive an Acura, but my TL is at least newer than their Integras. And '00 is a nice round number.

7. My wife won’t let me trade up to a Type-S. She keeps talking about the mortgage and groceries, stupid stuff like that . . .

6. I could still run nitrous or a supercharger if I wanted all that crazy horsepower, which I don’t. Absolutely not. Nosiree, not me.

5. After one speeding ticket that finally fell off the books because I behaved for six months, I’m not about to raise my insurance premiums, let alone incur my wife’s wrath by getting another one in a faster, cooler model. Are you seeing a pattern here?

4. We don’t get that much fog, so I don’t need foglights. And if I did, I could just hold a flashlight out the driver’s window.

3. I enjoy re-adjusting the seat and mirrors every time I drive it after my wife has, even though she should be driving our SUV.

2. I never went for those perforated racing seats—the wrinkled leather fits my fat ass much better.

1. And the number one reason for keeping my ’00: I like the 7-spoke wheels on 16" rims much better than those cheesy 17" 5-spokers.

ROFLMAO

The list is great! 2000 was a good year for the TL, enjoy your ride.

The only way I listened to the wife about the new TL was not buying a 6MT (she can't drive stick).

Dang those wives! They are always messing up our plans. Don't they EVER factor in the coolness of a new car?

Great list. About the exact same as mine!

now, in fairness to the wives

approaching 41, I agree with your list (I have my own Blue '00 TL).

In fairness to wives, I dropped one hint in Sept 2000, and we had a '01 MDX in Nov.

Maybe so, but you are still slower because the TL weighs more. Max torque on the Bimmer occurs at a much lower RPM (at least 1800RPM lower) than the TL (5400RPM, which you rarely hit in everyday driving).

FWD is not a sporty as RWD and does not handle lots of power well (wheel hop). Nor does it really help your weight distribution. Speaking of rain/snow, BMW does make the X AWD models .

Real #1 should be:

The TL is reliable and a good value for the money.

The handling of the BMW beats a front heavy car anytime - almost 50/50 weight distribution but BMW does have a limiter to 138 mph AND the standard seats are leatherette not real leather - extra for that, extra for sun roof, extra for xenon headlights. Automatic is extra too as are power seats - TL is a well appointed car for the $

The BMW leatherette is IMO superior to many manufacturer's leather.

leatherette rocks. I have been in a bimmer that is like 8 years old with leatherette and it looks and feels better than any leather i have seen from a newer car. And the owner doesnt care for the car.

I have often thought about getting a TL-S, but after seeing the '04, it's clear to me what I'm getting eventually...the '05 or '06 Type-S.

Think about it-270hp stock right now...the TL-S will have at least hp...DEFINITELY worth the wait...

But for now, we can both enjoy the prettiest body style TL in existence (obviously b/c of our front clip)

ENJOY!! :beerchug:
