No lie, OP is not being to smart about this whole thing. Just get to the cops and let them deal with it. You got scammed and it's going to be difficult to get your money back. Maybe insurance can do something about it, that is if you have insurance already.

Ya that's what I think as well. Seems like he's just on here to see what everyday users would say if they were to buy this car.

2 obvious way to tell besides registering the car

open hood, if engine lettering on plastic is not red, it's not a type S

or

look at the seats, if they are not preforated, it's not a type S

Question Ss

How do you know if your car is an SS would it say it next to 3.2 logo?

no SS, only type s. And the letters on the engine would be red, it would say s on the back next to the 3.2, seats would be perforated, white guages, etc......But judging by your username you have a 99 and there were no s types in 99....

i think i know what you are talking about. all of the TL's have "SS"

its considered Sport Shift in which you can manually shift your gears. Once you are in "D5" move your knob over to the left then shift up as you please...wouldn't recommend down shifting though.

hmm so u registered a car saying it has 66k when u know its over 150k and never reported anything and plan to do nothing shocking plus its all here in writing that you knew about the mileage. You also made ur forum name thief which makes it look like ur asking this to figure out what to do to cover up the mileage so u can scam someone.

wow......research, research, research. car fax, ebay, comps, this forum ( my mistake ). at least you didnt pay more seems like he priced the car about right if it does have 150,xxx. these tls go for more than 5500 if it has 100xxx. a tl-s 66k usually cost about 9000-10000

If it is indeed stolen, the police might be able to get a fingerprint or two. Don't touch the door handles inside or outside or any other high traffic areas you usually touch. Fingerprints can sometimes track people faster than names. If you absolutely have to go somehwere, wear some latex gloves or something. Then pray no one sees you wearing them and reports you for "getting away with a stolen vehicle."

BTW, his "cell #" is probably ficticious. If you did talk to him on it, its probably a trac-fone and is likely in the trash somewhere.

You were definitely screwed over. My car is an 02, and was made January of 2002. I'm not sure if you could really get an 02 in 2001.

And just because carfax says it has 155,000 miles on it, doesn't mean that's what it really has. That was mileage at last inspection, unless date is provided, it could've been from 2007.

If you got his name, put it into google. There is a search machine for people, can't remember the name right now, but it gives a little list of realitives. You have to pay for any other information. Look up the names it gives you in the phonebook and make some calls. If you get close enough, he'll get nervous. Maybe you can smoke him out that way, or atleast find his address?

GL man...
Depends on if the car is clean or not. If its dirty or dusty theres a good chance they wont go farther then testing a few spots and considering it to be a lost cause. Trust me I had to have some cops test for fingerprints on a trailer that got broken into and got 8 speakers stolen totaling to 3 grand. They tried a few spots and figured it was useless since it was dirty. And fingerprints will dissapear with rain....according to the cop atleast
