TOMMOROWS THE BIG DAY! i need help!
tommorow im going to be buying my first acura 3.2 TL
im still really sketchy about the transmission though
i dont exactly have the biggest budget and im looking at a few 1999s that are around the 80-100k mark
exactly how sketchy should i be about the transmission....when i buy the car what are some things i should do to make sure it doesnt f*ck up on me??
so far here are a few of the final choices
1. silver/black 112k, owner does not know when transmission was replaced
2. dark green/tan, 80k, transmission replaced at 65k
3. black/tan, 94k, dealership doesnt kno when transmission was replaced
can someone hit me the link to the website were i can find out the recall by entering a VIN
i think the best bet is #2, but i would have to get a paint job cus i aint feelin green
any ideas or input are GREATY APPRECIATED...I NEED HELP!!!

not sure if u have to be the owner of the vehicle to call but if u have the VIN#'s then u can call this number and they'd be able to tell u if it was replaced or not, thats how i found out about my TL:
(800)382-2238
the owner link is below:

Hey dude,
tell us how it goes. I'm going to be going through the same experience soon, and would like to know your buying/dealer impressions.
Good luck! (sorry I can't help with the recall info)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it...If it makes you feel a VERY low percent of tranny failures are on the 4 speed TL's. You are looking at 99's so I wouldn't worry...

Good luck! I would say go with the second one, since it has less miles and you know when the transmission was replaced.
Unless you find out if the others have not had it, and then you should probably go with the 3rd one.

2nd gen 2000 TL on original tranny (78K). Get the black one with 94K. Better color and still have some warranty on tranny. Make sure you run it hard in the beginning to see if there is some tranny slipage. 6K will give you a half a year of "break in" to make sure you like it. If you don't just hustle it for even money and get a CL-S 6 speed.
