Tnit+Navi= Bad news?

I am looking to get my 03 TL-S tinted. I talked to one tint shop and they said since it had navi that I cant use any metallic tint and wanted to sell me their carbon tint. I then talked to another shop and they said they use it all the time with no issues. Anyone here have any expierence with this?

Thanks, Mike

well...they're actually both right.

I have metallic tints, and also have a Pioneer Z1 navigation systyem, and I placed the antenna near the rear window in the corner, and I get a really bad signal, since the metal in the tints is blocking some of the signals that are trying to come in.

But on the other hand, atleast it works...

I think the issue is that the navi antenna is in the rear window. I haven't gotten my windows tinted yet, but I was thinking I would use non-metallic (ceramic maybe) on the rear window, then metallic on the other windows to cut the price a bit.

Also, I think the manual specifically says not to use metallic tint on the rear window.

No metallic tint should be on our rear windows. It'll mess with the radio and the Navi. That's for any car as well that has the antenna linked up to the rear window.

Talk to CJams...he's a professional tint window guy...he did mine, and he'll tell ya.

I have tint on my TL-S side and rear windows. For the rear window, they (the tint people) installed the non-metallic tint which has the same "color" or darkness as the rest. I believe it was made by 3M. It has been 3 years and I have no issue with the NAVI or Radio reception.
