TLS's Handling. Just How Does It Rate?
Hey guys. Just curious how you think the TLS handles in comparison to say an IS 300 or BMW 330ci. Also maybe to a Mustang GT and Camaro. I havnt had a chance to drive nay of these cars and am quite interested. I should go for some test drives! I'm looking at it from stickly a racing standpoint. How fast can the cars go through the turns sort of thing. Who cares about comfort .

Compared to the cars you mentioned, I'd say the TL-S is the least capable in terms of cornering/racing...a road course.
If you don't care about the ride but would prefer to race (i.e. having real fun on the corners), I wouldn't look at anything front wheel drive.
That is the main reason I put the TL on the bottom of the list, every other car you mentioned is rear-wheel drive.
Don't get me wrong, I love my TLS... I just didn't buy it too have too much fun on the corners or a track...just a roomy comfortable ride that won't put me to sleep

In Road & Track's road test summary, the skid pad score for the TLS was .83 while the 330i was .84. This was however the best skid pad score I have seen for the TLS. Truthfully I think the TLS is one of the best handling front wheel drive cars available. I don't think it can't hang for long though in true Slalom racing with the likes of BMW's, IS300's, probably G35's, and other rear wheel drive cars of that claliber. My wife has a 530i and she is pretty impressed with the TLS. She says it seems to handle pretty much as well unless you try to do power drifts through hairpin turns.
Before she got the Bimmer she was such a sweet, conservative driver. The other night I was following her home and watched her perform a few Beamer B1tch moves to perfection!

I always thought that the Acura handled well, about the same as a Maxima however, I drove my buddies IS300 and IMHO, FWD cannot compare. The Acura is by far better than most of the FWD cars like the Camry and Accord but the RWD sport sedans are the true canyon carvers.

I find the handling not too great mainly due to the fact that this much power to the front wheels creates quite a bit of torque steer.
At 192.3" it is also almost a foot and a half longer than the BMW 3 or IS and that impairs cornering, not to mention that the ground clearance is set too high at 5.9 inches.
They designed it this way to make it an all-rounder rather than a dedicated sports sedan.

Understeer and nose heavy.
Therefore not great in a slalom but excellent road holding and very stable doing highway speed maneuvers.
But only if you ditch the stock tires
