Post TL vs TL-S MPG

A comparison of the first three tanks of gas in my 2000 TL and 2002 TL-S:

TL
23.9
28.3
28.3

TL-S
25.0
24.1
24.1

30.0 is the best tank I ever got in the TL. I'll be taking a long road trip in a few weeks and will report back on how the TL-S does on the highway.

In my '99 3.2TL non-nav I could not get much more than 19mpg combined driving. Most was around town but even when I would take a longer X-way jaunt 100 miles or so during a tank full I still did not get, what I consider to be, good milage. Hopefully, the '02 TL-S I just got will improve upon that.

The problem with the TL-S is that there is this uncontrollable urge to jam your foot to the floor and absorb the feeling of acceleration.

Unfortunatly, this has an impact on the fuel mileage!

My TLS
1-24
2-22.5
3-27
4-22.5
5-25

It's an automatic....it depends heavily on where you drive and how you drive.

I am glad someone started discussing about gas mileage. The sticker says highway 29.. It seems no one is not even getting close to that.

I average 17 - 19 after 5 months of ownership in my 01. About 200-225 miles per tank between fill-ups in mixed driving. Have not been on a long trip yet, but so far I am not happy with mpg.

I drove my TLS from Orlando to Tampa today;
(180 mile R/T)and used just a little less than 1/2 a tank. I filled up before I took off this morning. I was maintaining a speed of between 75 - 80. Long distance gas mileage is great. Local driving is really lousy.

On my first long trip, I filled the tank to capacity and filled it to capacity again at the end. I drove 515 KMs (321.8 miles) on 40.95 litres (10.55 US Gal). Do the math and it is 30.5 MPG. It was all four lane highway at roughly 65-70 mph. I was impressed.

I've filled my gas about 6 times now. I calculated the mileage and averaged it. My average fuel consumption was

22.6

This is a combination of highway, stop-and-go-traffic, and local.

After 1,100 miles, I'm losing MPG! Think the break-in period is over and the smile factor is kicking in...

I just returned from a road trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. Going down, 75 to 80 all the way I got 29.9. Coming back...cruise set to 82 with the air on I got 30.1. Im more than happy with the gas mileage on the highway. Remember, the automatic has a lock up torque converter, so on the highway it has no slippage. I do notice that around town, Im getting about 22 - 23, but I do a lot of stop and go driving.

Just finished my first full tank since getting the car on Saturday.
310 miles/tank. Plus I think I had 1 or 2 gallons left.

I got great mileage on my car.

I'm not driving it right now though.

The only good traffic is NO traffic

I got 29 - 30 MPG with my 00 TL on the highway.

Headers? Maybe that has a bit to do with it. Eitherway, I'm a fairly aggressive driver. I've never gotten good gas milage in any car. Atleast I'm getting the same gas milage I was in my 2000 accord V-6 with some 75 less hp.
