TL Vs Maxima

aight.. i have a question... Why do all Acura TL guys try saying stuff about maxima this and that? Did u guys know that Nissan did not make Maxima considering AN ACURA COMPITIION? They had honda accord market in sight for it. So if you guys start comparing it to Maxima.. that means nissan got something they were not really competing against.. GO Nissan.. BTW Infinity is the one that competes with Acuras interior and exterior wise.. correct me if i am wrong

Your right....well u were right until this yr.
Nissan is moving the maxima upscale now to compete in the entry level luxo market(TL,3series, C-Class,I35, IS300)
Thats why the Altima has taken its place as family sedan and they've added features to the Max like HID lights, more power, 6disc indash changer, memory seat, etc.
It's transformation should be complete in 1-2 yrs when they restyle it.

Bull.

Then who would buy a Q45, or the new G35 sports sedan?? BTW, it's Infiniti, not Infinity (they make speakers )

MY BAD!! Infiniti! hehe

Just like they have I35 and Maxima right now. Q45 will be MORE luxury compared to a MAxima.. 2002 is the LAST for the 5th gen maxima.. you might wanna check with ur local nissan dealer! You know how much Q45 got? 360HP anyways.. 6th gen maxima's wont be even near acuras.. so the new competition line is as follows..

Nissan Sentra VS Honda Civic
Nissan Alitma VS Honda Accord , Acura CL
Infinity I35 VS Acura TL
Nissan Maxima.. Wayy on top with 5 series Bmw and no Acura Honda on competition.

Maxima wasn't meant to compete against TL and it didn't really(somewhat), but it also wasn't meant to compete against Accord or Camry. I did compete against them but it was meant to(stated by Nissan Executive) It was somewhere in between an Accord and a TL. Now there bumping up the car to move it into the TL range. I can guarantee you right now that it wont get a V8 and it wont compete against BMW 5. Maybe those are rumors but reality is it will compete against TL. If u go by rumors theres a TL type R with 300+ hp in the works. Will that happen...No.
Oh and the Q45 has 340hp...and its still only does 0-60 in high 6's....not bad but could be better when theres similar cars that do it in sub 6 times with 40ish less hp.

I believe the Maxima did have some identity crisis in this year. With Altima that had come so close to the Maxima territory.

Indeed, Maxima had always seek the competiton in the Accord and Camry. For TL it is the I30/I35. Since the early 90's, Nissan always said the Maxima is a "4DSC" 4 doors sport car. It even had a "4DSC" sticker on the rear windows.

With the Maxima going to be offer in a bigger size next year and the production will be moving to America. I don't even know what the competition will be. But definitely not the 5 series.

With all due respect, the mismatched comparisons come directly from the Maxima camp. It seems that they enjoy stacking the deck in their favor. Examples?

When we're talking performance figures, no one compares the automatic Maxima to the automatic TL. It's always the 5-speed.

When the subject turns to luxury, the I30's name gets tossed in.

I agree 100% with you... let's compare apples to apples. TL versus the I30. Performance, luxury, the whole 9.

The Maxima guys aren't going to like that one at all, though.

Actually it's the maxima guys that like to compare to us TL guys (not vice versa).:p

About the maxima getting a V8, that's really funny.

And how is it that the Q45 have a 340 hp engine (strongest in it's class) but yet can't beat the new LS430 with only 290 hp? Also the new I35 with a 255 hp engine does 0-60 in 7.0 secs.

I just think the maxima is the bastard child of nissan. It's always being tossed around.

Hey MAX4SPEED

At least you had the common sense to get the last good looking Maxima, because the current generation are to quote many members here, are "fugly".

Maxima tail lights are disguisting. Who came up with those round cat eyes!? That is the main reason why I did not even consider 2000 Max. The Inifiniti I30 did have a much nicer interior but trade offs were much higher price tag and no 5 spd. Sportshift. In all the TL represented a nice balanced package.

I think the reason people feel compelled to compare a TL with a Maxima is because the Infiniti seriously lacks sportiness. They are nice and luxurious but lack agility (except the Q45; now there's a true and competant flagship sedan). So while we compare our cars to Infinitis, Maximas are fair game also when it comes to agility and racing.

This is very true. Astute observation.
