tl vs chevy impala
If your in a Type-S then he might pull on ya off the line but according to the specs you should beat him. The Impala is only 240hp for the SS trim (Type-S=260hp) and the Chevy weighs more.
I guess it would help if we knew what trim level you have and what he has. Go to Chevy's site and look at the specs compared to yours.

Would this even be considered a race? Here's an idea, let him sit in your car and then let him decide if he still wants to race you. My friend had a Hyundai Tiburon 6-speed and he was bragging how he was fast so he said he would challenge me to a race. I told him to shut up and get in my car and then let him decided...he backed up so fast! Was he serious?? Very much so!
His only mod was an intake.

Has anyone out there raced their Type S against a late-model Grand Prix GTP? I had one (a GTP) prior to the Type S and I think the Acura is faster than the GTP.

I think GTP is better off the line (but not by much though). Anything higher than 35mph the TLS starts to pull and wins
From experience.

Don't try racing the GTP. I race one already. He ate me alive. I think he was stock too. That supercharger does wonders. I think the GTP is 13 sec 1/4 mile anyway. But I have I/H/E and pulleys and still lost. I raced the same guy once before I got headers and came back to him and still lost. Got me kinda frustrated that I got beat by a domestic. Dammit!! Well just telling of my experience.
A 2004 Gran Prix GTP (Competition Group) which is the top of the line runs a 0-60=6.6 and 1/4=15 @93mph.
By the numbers, is not even competition. I know that out in the streets is a different story but with a good response time there is no way (stock for stock) that a Gran Prix can take a TLS but again as usual, we are getting away from the original post (TL vs Chevy Impala).

Street racing is is illegal, can kill or maim and if the District Attorney can prove you racing you could go to jail for manslaughter or murder, depending on the circumstances. If your insurance company finds out that your accident happened in a race some policies will deny coverage. With that being said, most ot the cars you're talking about are just a second or so faster or slower. With no Xmas tree, start lines, finish line, etc.. a speed contest is just a matter of who is foolish enough to put their foot down first.
