Post TL Type S w/ AEM cold air intake

i just finished installing the aem cold air intake(meant for the cl type s). there was a little trouble but it only took an hour. IT SOUNDS GOOD AS HELL!!!!!!!! everyone should get the cold air intake. whenever i zoom by a maxima, or somethin, with its window open, the driver gets scared from the sound of the intake at vtec.

At crusing speed, you will not hear it at all. It only growls when you are revving up. I had to cut off a lot of rubber on the K&N filter and drive the intake pipe deep into the filter element. It was too long and was hitting the back of the fog light. Also the instruction that came with the kit is confusing as he?!.

Thats AEM for you, they make a pretty good product but the instructions seem like they are written by someone who has never even tried to install one. Thats the way they are for all of their intakes regardless the car.

Dont worry about a drone Edgalang, the intake is not noticeable at cruising speeds, only when you floor it at the upper RPm band, but be warned, it is LOUD!!!!!!!!!! Much louder than any exhaust. So no stealthy rapid acceleration will ever be possible with one of these. Had one in my Accord, but dont think I want to go that route with my TL-S

A great device for "scaring" marginal drivers. I know, I have the AEM on my CLS, and I've already had some morons mistake my 3rd gear 5-7K sonic boom for an air-horn!!!

The police can also here the car at WOT about a mile away.

So, much for stealth and sneaking up on people...

Hmmm, I doubt I'll go to the CAI route since eventually I want the car to have a more sleeper look. A friend of mine drives an integra GS with CAI and its freaking funny when he slams that thing in 3rd. It scares a butt load of people away (easier to pass people on the left since they move right away), but every time he does it, it cracks me up because we're only going around 80 at most.

My 2000 Accord V-6 was the same way. God, I hated it. I felt so stupid getting on the gas and not going anywhere. Worst part was... Accord vtec kicks in at 3000 rpms. My friends would all start screaming "light the thunder!" whenever I got into vtec.

Lol, funny. The sound is not as bad as having a loud exhaust. Sound is kind of fun at times though since it make you think you are going really fast but you really are not. Good for people who want to drive fast but can't because of traffic and cops.

Install is pretty straight forward. You have to figure things out as you go since the instruction uses part names we are not familiar with. You don't have to remove the bumper. Just plastic wheel well and under body splash guard.

I'm wondering if there are any chances of sucking in water during heavy rain. My guess is that the filter element is well protected from rainfall but not deep puddles that can submerge the car more than 1/2 front bumper height. What happens to the K&N filter when it gets wet???

Any oiled filter should be ok. A foam filter without oil can swell like a sponge (it kinda is a sponge!).

Paper swells and that is one reason it is not used off-road.

Watch those puddles - you can crack a block or a cylinder real easy. This has happened a lot in Florida with lowered/modded BMW's and standing water.
