The S2K is definately an awesome car. A friend of mine has the exact same car that you are considering. All I can say is that if you want a good handling car and fun to drive, the S2k would suit you nicely. Anyhow, I have some pictures of his car at Summit Point raceway that might wet your taste buds. Dont mind the mud, for that he a little incident.

My family would kill me if I got rid of the four doors and 5 passenger seating but if I had the choice like you, I'd do it in a heartbeat! S2K is my dream machine! BADASS Roadster!

They are two very different cars! Everything is opposite! From one being rear-wheel drive and the other front-wheel drive to digital to analog gauges! Everything you're use to on the TL is opposite on the S2000.
It took me awhile to get use to the S2000. Now I love it!
Personally, I'd wait for the 2002 models. They are going to a have blue color option and rumors of glass back!

Depends on the way you drive. S2000 is a very unique car. You need to keep the VETC active or else the car is gonna feel like a Civic. If you want to do fast 1/4 or 0-60. You have to dump the clutch HARD!!!
A friend on mine have the S2000. I have to say that the car is AMAZING on the track. But not so exciting for normal city driving. Because you don't feel the torque, unlike the Vette that push you back everytime you floor it. I am not saying that the S2000 is slow, it's just that it's fast in a different way!
Oh, and I doubt the safety of the S2000 as few fatal accidents happened in HK & Japan...etc.

I see plenty of bald old men who drive their Vettes, etc. below the speed limit just to be in your way and get noticed. Not me, give me clear road or track and let me have my own fun! Sure if they want, they can punch it, melt tires, and be pushed back in the seat. But I can drive with a grin on my face all day and not worry about working off testosterone like that.

You should drive the S2000 before you get set on it - lots less torque than the TL.
Sure, it'll do 0-60 in about 5 1/2 seconds. However, in a recent road test I read the drivers did a second comparison run shifting not at redline but at 7,000 RPM instead. The result? 0-60 time of over 10 seconds. So, to get the power and performance out of it, "you gotta drive it like you just stole it."
I say get a Z3 3.0 or perhaps a used M Roadster!

I would highly recommend it if it fits your lifestyle (zip luggage space, no room to wiggle, etc.) Do like I plan, keep it in the garage for sunny days, something else for typical duty.

Z3 or M ROADSTER???
NSXnext: man, you missed out be a couple weeks. Some guy was selling his supercharged S2k on ebay... that would be one FAST car... It depends tho, if you don't mind cramped area, don't need the space, luxury, etc, get the S2k if thats what you want.. But I'm positive of one thing, you'll miss the luxury, comfort of the TL day to day driving. I think the S2k makes a very fine second or weekend car, but i don't see many ppl using it as a daily driver, although i'm sure you could, its still a honda, reliable, good gas mileage, etc. if you want to go for pure sport, get it and supercharge it!Looking at your sig, you seem to be a speed freak.. if so, the TL is not a solution, Type S or not (Sorry guys), its not a race car, and its quite heavy. If you really wanna go crazy, may i suggest getting a used Supra Turbo, and upgrading it with blitz turbo ?

IF the S2000 came as an S2800 (with a 2.8L V6/I6), and in Sedan form, I would trade-up my beloved TL in and purchase it....assuming that it comes equipped with the NAV system as an option, which is a must for me.

Personally, I don't want to have to hear an engine scream and wait to get to over 8000 RPM just to get on the freeway every time.
Maybe you should just drive a motorcycle, Rice?
And by the way, a 360 Ferrari has a large engine with plenty of torque down low unlike an S2000. Road and Track wouldn't have even brought up the 7000 RPM 0-60 time of the S2000 if it wasn't so noteworthy and slow.
Now go hop on the subway and smell the magic...

this is going a long way towards showing how lost TL people are in terms of s2000s. Just drive one than talk and not a second before because the numbers don't do it justice. driving it is like a direct extension of ur body going 99 mph on the ridge road. never felt anything like it.

Well, I think the Supra is gonna go CRAZY on the straight highway or drag strip.
The S2000 will feel like a kart on the track.
Like I said the S2000 is unique. It's loud when you want to drive it fast, because you have to rev it. Sure the thing moves but you'll miss torque eventually...

In defense of the S2000....since I do have one!
The low torque isn't that bad. And the torque is pretty flat from 3k to 9k RPMS with a little jump at VTEC. ~130 torque max isn't bad for a 2700lb car. I'm pretty confident I can keep up with a stock Civic Si without going to VTEC (pass 6k RPM) and keep up with a Boxster S going to 9k RPM.
But it is true that you do have to drive it like you stole it to really get the performance out of it!
Just my .02 cents.
