TL-s vs A6
i canyon raced an A6 with suspension upgrade and rims, i had 4 people in my car, he was alone, i have HKS exhaust, 19x8 C2's, and H&R springs, i hadnt put my intake on yet. -
ok, we hit the canyon and he takes off, i was just tryin to ride his ass, i am an experienced driver my car was just not havin it with the dead weight, i was pretty much just keepin equal distance on him and i know that i was not pushin my car the hardest, but then i dont know if he did either, but i got to say that he was movin, i am gonna get my sways and go knock on his door, oh yeah, he drives through that canyon every night to get home, i have not been there in over 3 years, i also forgot to use my navigation to watch for upcoming turns and the size of the turn, i know that i could of taken him if that was his best run and i was alone. i keep post after i spank 'em!

The 4.2 isn't any faster than the 2.7tt. It's actually much slower than the 2.7tt manual (same set up in s4). It's advantage is the smoothness of torque and it's much less affected by the extra weight of passengers.

Well,
You'd be surprised at the A6 on a road course. For being a big fat heavy pig they dont handle too bad. Late apex, early on the gas and let the AWD do the rest.
A TL-S/CL-S is only a fraction slower in the 1/4 than the 6 speed 2.7T. The S's are a couple of ticks faster than the Tip A6 2.7T and the A6 4.2 in the 1/4.
On the Highway the fastest of the A6's might just be the 4.2. It is a freeway flyer and geared to be that. ALl three models pull very hard all the way to the limiter which I believe is set at 136mph. The Tip 2.7T and 4.2 hit it in 4th and really cant use the 5th gear unless its removed.
The 4.2 has 300hp and 300lbs torque(??), pity it didnt come with a stick.
I would think a TLS/CLS would be a fun race with the three A6's, but if all left at the same time I would rate it 4.2, then 2.7t 6 speed(can use the closer ratios), then tip 2.7T then the S's. This is on the highway. All would be close.
1/4 mile 2.7T 6 speed, then S's and maybe first if the 6 speed 2.7T launched bad, then the Tips 2.7t and 4.2 would bring up the rear.
this is all stock to stock. And if someone had the jump, who know what the result would be.
The A6 wasnt meant to be for speed or canyon running but its fair at either.(gotta get rid of the stock tires though!! )
I have only come across one CL-S that really tried something, he was within 2-3 feet of my bumper heading into a 35 mph right turn(merge), so I just stayed at that speed, turned in for a late apex and was at full boost right before the apex and exited under lots of power(AWD) and I guess they were trying to follow me on that line and they almost ended off the road. Then they were not through and hammered it on the long straight part after they got control, boy it sure was traveling . But he ran into a 'non stock' Tip A6 2.7T . I slowed down after a bit and whoooossseeee he went flying by!! They sound kinda nice under full throttle. I kinda like those Acura's, owned a 3.0CL and now a MDX.

A 6 spd 2.7T (stock, just like mine) would easily run away from a non S-Type Acura. We're talking about a car that has closely spaced gear ratios that is ideal for high speed acceleration here.
I personally would love to run into a 6spd CL S-type, I'm always game for a little "grudge match"

I wouldn't place a bet on that one either way...

the A6 2.8 is slower than a Civic...takes 9.9 sec from 0-60
2.7T...is faster than a TL-S
4.2....don't bother...
a tuned 2.7T can be more dangerous than any V8 on the road...just look at the 380hp RS6

For comparison check MT for the specs on the 4.2. 0-60 in 6.6...

I was looking at the A6 when I sold my '00 TL-P...eventually I went with an '02 TL-S because I didn't see the extra $13k worth it for the 2.7T
If you look in Audi's book in the A6 (and I'm not saying the book or the rag's is anything compared to a real road test), but the book will give you the 0-60's and 1/4's and the A6T is the fastest of the A6's, It's not far from S4 speeds, but bottom line is, the 2.7T stick will crank us in 0-60 and 1/4's
But our car is a lot more comfortable...i wouldn't have believed that until I drove the A6, but damn, the Acura is soo much more comfy.

No doubt A6 2.7T is a fast car, stock or moded... 4.2 is more of a HWY cruiser..... but still, from stand still, both 2.7T and 4.2 are well match with TLS.... and with good driver and 2.7T 6-speed.... well, good luck... hehe, and expect to see nothing but 2.7T's taillights....
As for moded 2.7T..... better get a E55 AMG/M5...
