TL-S got Spanked
for some strange reason my friend with a 02 TL-S w/exhaust thought he could beat me and my 02 S2k Stock(I used to have a 00 TL) well he's in a little denial but at about 1/4 mile I had more than 4 cars on him and was still pulling till I let off ( no reason to cont) Not to bash the Tl's cuz I had one but WTF was he thinking???
OH and my shift from 2 to 3 wasn't the smoothest.
OH and my shift from 2 to 3 wasn't the smoothest.
wtf i raced an S2K with my 00 TL (mods: removed resonator, hi flo filter, HKS dragers) and he didnt even get me by 2 car lengths. He was by himself and I had 1 person in the car. Im sure a type S could atleast hang with it better than I did.
4 car lengths, at that speed? How many seconds would that add up to? The cars aren't that different. The S2K is fast, but needs a great launch to get the numbers, and all the Tl-S needs is to have minimal tire spin. Like someone else said, maybe 2 car lengths, but you saying your 2nd-3rd shift wasn't smooth, the TL-S might of even kept it closer. Maybe he spun too much, or didn't power brake high enough. I'm trying to teach my buddy that has an 2002 S2K how to heal-toe, but I know that if he learns how, he will kick my ass.
I'm sorry to all those S2K owners, but YOUR CAR IS NOT THAT FAST!! You have to be a professional driver and rev the shiat out of that car to get some speed..I know for a fact that a TLS will hang with a S2K because I raced several friends that have an S2K and they definitely didn't pull away from me and my TLS is STOCK!! I'm sure I will get flamed for this reply, but I go by my experiences and they have showed me that the S2K isn't as fast as everybody makes them out to be. I hate to be the one to break it to everybody, but the S2K isn't all that. It's just a miata on steroids.

I am not a bit surprise a TLS got spank by a S2K with better-than-average driver...

Hey I got an idea why don't you race someone and not let your VTEC kick in

don't think I have to say anymore. And sorry to say I had a TL-P nice car but not and I say NOT a Sports car like the S2k!!! All things being equal the s2k is faster!!! Every single car Mag out there can't be wrong
The S2000 needs to be launched fairly hard, no new news to you all. The place where the S2000 really shines in its stock condition is on the track. It handles road courses(Tracks) very well. And it the hands of a good driver it is awesome at the track.
first of all, Blazing tl is still trying to irk me..Our so called "race" wasn't even a race cause he cheated and he knows it. We were on francis lewis by the LIE waiting for the light to turn green, suddenly he rolls a full car length ahead of me and takes off when it turned green. Your car is supose to be faster than mine "so says the reputable car magazines" I can understand that i beat you in handball (score 21 to 13) (and you work out) (i'm out of shape), I hit the winning homerun against your team, etc I know you hate losing to me and your only remedy to beat me is to cheat. After he took off, i lost all respect for him and didin't race..so you can say whatever you want, but you are the one in denial. So why did you ever get rid of your TLP? All in all fellas, he's still my friend..now i gotta keep an eye on him while we playing cards...he might cheat.. If anything i said in this post wasn't true(rolled a full car length ahead of me before the light turned green) I hope my dad dies from cancer right now

LOL,anybody want any cheese with that wine.I hear sour grapes is good this time of year, oh lets get the three witnesses that saw the whole thing.:wow: ,but i digress TL gone cuz 1.everyone and the grandmothers have one,2.tranny issues should not be an issue with a new car,3. HID jackings to common with Acuras.
Since everyone agree S2000 is a fast car and needs a good driver to really shine, I will just build on that.
Last week at the SpeedtrialUSA event in California Speedway there were 2 S2000's there. I know them both and both of them can't drive, 1 was new it had less than 2000 miles on it.
To make a long story short, 1 of the S2000 spun 4 times and the other 2 times.
They could not even keep up with me and I drove a NA 1991 MR2. My only mods on my MR2 was suspension and a heavy diet, no interior....
I took one of the S2000 out on my last session and I was passing heavely modified WRX's and laping civics...
S2000 is harder to srive than most other cars, but when you learn to drive it, it is awsome!!! Reminds me of the Lotus S4 I used to own, the engine sucked till the turbo kicked in, and once it kicked in, boy, it was crazy fast.... in this case, you just have to keep the rpm over 6K, anything under just feels like a slow civic...

yall New Yawkers are funny
Seriously though,
I had a chance to rack up some miles on a S2000. BTW, I own a 2002 ABP TLS. Never had any service issues with it whatsoever, and I drive pretty hard. Well anyways, I ragged the sh*t out of an S2000. I liked the car and I appreciate Honda for even making it. You can get this car to go, but it takes work. When in its powerband (which is narrow and very high) the car is wonderful. The engine actually wails like a motorcycle (btw, very attention getting. The sound actually scares other motorists and attracts 5-O). Kinda reminds me of my highly modded track aftermarket turbo 84 RX-7. You can do wonderful things with the car, if you know how to drive and are willing to push it. As a side note, of the several times i topped the car out, I felt that the car was unstable at speed (in the front end). The car made me very nervous above 120. I think this car (all things being equal, driver skill etc...) can beat our TL-s but would take some bit of work. Below 4000 RPMs the car drives like a Civic, above 7000 the car pulls very nicely. On the other hand, the TL-s is a charm to drive. It takes virtually no work to get it going other than a decent auto-tranny launch. A race betwwen the 2 cars would be close. Stock to stock my money would be on the S2000. At very high speed (which is so easily attainable) the TL-s is stable and predictable. So there ya go, from as un-biased TL-s owner as you can get.

S2K is no Biggie, I beat one not once, but twice bt several thenths at the local track. I have comptech headers, exhaust and foam filter.
To think S2K owners try to race me in my C5 that I have clocked 11s in
Most S2000 drivers do think their cars are much faster then it really is.

what a coincidence that I was playing around with an S2K last night. That car IS gorgeous. We gave each other a nod at a red light so I kinda rev my engine a bit. He acknowledged and it was on. I needed all the help I can get from road conditions so I inched forward alittle bit (right in front of the edge of the white paint on the pavement to help traction). After the light turned green, we both took off. I know I would lose but I wanted to see how fast that thing was. The fact that his was a manual, I had no chance at take off. He immediately gained a car length on me. As I move up in the gears in SS with VSA off, he didn't really gain too much after the initial take off at the line
. I don't race much so I can't say my driving skills are good. Maybe his wasn't that exceptional either. We both shut it off at around 70mph with him winning by a about a car length and a half. Afterwards, he gave me a thumbs up we were off our separate ways. I'm impressed by our "boring family sedan" (as somebody called it here). Btw, I have CAI, headers, and exhaust. Our stock tires really blow.
