TL-S or CL-S 6 speed?
Hi all,
I needed a few opinoins from people who have driven both.
I currently own a 2003 WDP TL-S with 57k and I'm thinking of swapping it in for a low mileage (around 35k or so) 2003 CL-S six speed.
I don't exactly know how much of a difference I'd have to pay, but I'm guessing it will be around $6-7k? (Don't know for certain, I talked with a dealer that had one with 30K miles and he was asking for around $22K)
The thing is, I'd rather not be trading in one car for another that drives entirely the same: i.e. the TL-S and CL-S are mechanically identical and I dont think the CL-S is much faster, but I really like the idea of mating the J32 engine with a six speed. Also, I've never blown the tranny in my car and it's still running on the original, but I'm way too afraid to put any forced induction mods for fear of blowing the tranny. With a six speed, this wouldn't be a problem (I assume) and I'd seriously consider a charger.
Has anyone driven both (the six speed CL-S and TL-S)? If so can you guys tell me the differences you guys have felt in driving both?
I'm not looking to swap too soon; I completely ruptured my right achilles tendon and just had major reconstructive surgery on it. Doctor's say I'll never run at the collegiate athlete level again (Use to Run 100m for UC Berkeley Track, and was a bench warmer for their bball team) and that the recovery process before I can even put any weight on my right foot will be about 3 months from now.
So yeah. Depending on the feedback I get, I might just opt for a different car altogether and leave behind Acura.
Maybe a subary legacy Gt, maybe a used RX-8....

If you can find a 6 speed CL, buy it. I have a 3G TL with the 6MT and I love it. It's far more satisfying than the 3G TL with an automatic. I've never driven a 6 speed CL, so your mileage may vary.

IMO, I think it depends on what ur looking for..i mean..TL-S and CL-S are similar cars but in some ways ..totally different. TL-S is more towards the luxury side when compared to CL-S. CL-S is much more sportier. You more comfortable with 4 door or 2 door? For me, I don't think i'll ever be able to drive a coupe..driving an RSX is just too small and i can never fit right in to driving coupes...that's from my experiences though.
I say keep the TL-S unless u really looking for something different..it's pimp.

I actually have driven both. I wanted a CL at first because it looked more sporty. I didn't care auto or stick at first either. I've test drove muliple CLS's and TLS's with the auto and the speed is the same, but the 6 speed CLS was a totally different experience. I SMOKED THE TIRES THRU 1ST AND 2ND GEAR ALL THE WAY THRU THE RPM RANGE!!!!! Much faster than the auto's. Drops 0-60 times by over a second. The CLS 6sp non-navi 44k mi. was at 20g but it was certified. Then I checked out a TLS at another dealership and it had the every option available (factory kit, spoiler, navi, 52k mi). I just thought the TLS with all these options looked better IMO and was a better deal priced at $19g. I also took into consideration 4 door will be better for a family later on as well as not having to shift so much in traffic since this is my daily driver. If I would have known about the tranny problems prior, I would have probably bought the CLS 6. . Although I'm at 58k like yourself and on the original tranny. Hope it stays that way
