If you have the problem in your '03, it will be the same one in all probability...

who cares? your car has the 7 year / 100k mile warranty anyway, so why would it matter? just sport shift it til it die and get a new one from acura, after that, just drive like an old lady and you would be ok.

As Taken From AcuraInspired.com

https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura

Make sure you reg with the correct VIN for your car.
Login and go to "View Recall Information"

If you have a late production 03 TL-S it might not show that you are covered under the warranty, since you have the redesign trans.

I think our tranny in our late '03 TLS is starting to act up.

1. I was getting onto the highway (GA 400, for those who know) and I got on the car in 2nd and then just let off as I SS'ed into 3rd. There was a metallicy noise when it shifted

2. The car is taking a while to go from park into drive. In fact, if its on a slight grade, it will roll backwards about 5 feet before it engages 1st. I know this isn't what usually goes out, but its annoying none the less.

Anyway, we bought an extened 100k warranty. I'm not worried about it and I'm interested to see when this tranny kicks the bucket. We do tow our waverunner with this car and its weight limits are within the ones listed for the TLS.

My tranny died at 19k miles and I bought mine in 3-02. It felt fine up until about 18k when it started shifting later and harder. I also noticed a whining sound when accelerating like a SC spinning. Anyway, this prepared me for the inevitable so I was ready and waiting when the tranny went.

If there are no symptoms then don't worry about it and enjoy the car! I got her back and still love it!
