TL-p vs C300 drag timeslip
hey guys i usually go to a track near where i live in the summers with my suby. wednesday i was there to meet people at an open lap even with my stock TL. my friend who just traded in his es350 for a c300 4matic asked me for a drag race. they usually don't team up friends at the drag but we got lucky. here is the slip i scanned:
pretty close huh? very exciting race, despite my original tranny and aging motor. i forgot to turn off traction control but once i had traction tables started to turn, as in 3rd gear i got to spend lots of time at 4500+ rpm while he had to do a shift. i could feel his car falling back a bit when his auto tranny shifted, i think it bliped the throttle or something, similar to a manual. we both had smartphone apps monitoring and both confirmed he beat me in 0-60 by 0.15seconds (7.2 vs 7.35). i was very happy.
also i ruined the front tires when i did a couple laps with my stock tires (michelin primacy). despite running max pressure they rolled on sidewalls and peel off a thick layer after just 4 laps. i almost cried since they are brand new tires. the car felt like it was gonna flip over in tight corners. i have had it aligned too recently.

my transmission runs like new. but i have been babying it in city traffic. i take foot of throttle when shifting and all that. when i am pushing it i always let it cool down after. interesting fact, after the track when i parked my car for cooldown the lower fan close to the transmission turned on for about 15min even though my car was locked up lol. never seen that before. if you havent you might want to remove the safety mat under your hood, that really allows more airflow under the hood and i noticed it lowered my water temperature by about 10 degrees.

I don't beat up mine to bad, it's never been to a track and I usually don't race people unless they keep messing with me or if I want to see how mine will keep up. By the way the fact that the fan stayed on for 15 mins is more than likely a bad relay for the fan. I had mine go out before and it would stay on for 15 mins or so after I shut off the car.

Maybe your right. I just never seen the fans kick on that long especially with the car off without something causing it like low fluid or bad relay. I would just check fluid also.

my fluid still seems pink. its the new honda dw1 with only about 7000 miles. levels are fine but there seems to be a dark tint to it or that might be dirty dipstick.
