Ease up on the kid... It's his first car and I bet you were just a clueless when you first bought your car.
Other than that your best bet is to trade it in for a Type S or just buy i/h/e/p and a VTEC controller. You will be running faster than a TL-S but a modded TL-S will beat you. If I were you I'd trade it in for a CL 6MT Type S so you don't have any tranny problems. But if you really want to get into racing, the TL is not the car for you (FWD).

First off what are all of you 16 and 17 year old kids doing with these $30,000 cars??? The only reason I can afford mine is I am a network engineer and I work my tail off for it. But apparently you guys know a trick so .... if you guys know a trick to get a car at your age I sure wish someone would have told me!

You can get a '99 for around $13K now...not cheep, but not near what a new one cost. I got mine for around $17K with taxes 2 years ago and the original sticker was over $33K! ya right if I could get a new one!

Even at $13 K, that’s still expensive for a teenager. What are you guys doing to make this much money since most of your time is in school? And I know minimum wage can’t pay for this either.

I just know that when I bught my first new car in 94' (Eagle Talon and no trade-in) for about $18k I saved half my paycheck (making $5.75/hr.) for every week for two years to make the down payment of $12k.....and became a social hermit. The funny thing was that after that big of a down payment the dealer still wanted a co-signer for the remaining $6k. Payments were pretty cool at only $127/month.
Did the same thing with the TL-S. Only took one year in savings though and I have no wife or kids (by choice).

and you pay for them all by yourself? cash or monthly payments?
are you a drug dealer

I wouldn't think drug dealers make payments anyway. No varifiable income (that they would claim) so the bank would finance the loan so the dealers just buy it cash out the door.

I got mine by myself for $16500 after TT&L when I was 18, I just got a loan and put a little less than half in down payment and now my notes are 228 a month. I had a good job through high school though. Before my TL though I drove 2 POS cars to save up for a nice car. I wish my parents would have just handed me a TL But I have to admit, I have hardly anything left after car note, rent, insurance and all my other damn bills, so I probably should have kept driving the 94 dodge dakota for a little longer LOL j/k

Props to you for saving up. Nowadays I see too many rich ass kids driving beemers that they obviously didn't pay for.
