Question TL needs upgrade in San Jose, CA

Ok I got my new tranny. But when they gave me a loaner car the gave me a 2003 TL-S! Well, after driving it for a few days, I was a little bummed to give it back. The seats were so much nicer and it's stiffer suspention was so nice. I loved the extra pick up and handling. So, out of all those thing I think the only practicle thing I can do is put a handling kit on on mine to make it more TL-S like. Any ideas of where to go to do this is the SAN JOSE area? I would like my car to handle close to the tl-S? How much will this cost? I'm sure I will need new tires and rims to also help in this area. Anyway, I'm all ears...

Well basically we would start with suspension such as springs, sways, struts and so on. Tires and rims also help. And then you'll all be set. Look at spending about $500 for the suspension stuff and depending on the rims and tires you like, another $2000 and up. BTW...I'm in san jose.

I have an '00 TL and am now very pleased with sways, Koni's, springs (1" drop) headers and AEM cold air intake. I stuck with the good looking stock wheels but went with widerand lower tires and the car is a blast to drive. With some good brake pads and Stainless steel brake lines you will have improved power, cornering and stopping and better looks! Have fun....I've owned my car for 39 months and am still modding it!

Can you put Wider tires on the stock rims?

And Peiginglong of San Jose, who did the mods for you?

Of course you can. I just got my Yoko AVS ES100 in 225/55/16 put on last week. Now the car handles way better than those stock tires.

You should invest in the Tien Coilovers. Don't go the cheap route you'll regret it later. (Especially if you are replacing springs AND shocks.) The Tiens should only run you about $900.

I used to have a friend install my mods...he doesn't want to do it anymore...tired...so I do some of them myself and the bigger ones I need to find someone else.

Sounds like what I should do is start with the wider and lower performance tires, see how that improves the handling performance, then if need be, go for new springs and struts.

Actually if u do springs first...u will have much better gains than just tires. It'll be cheaper too.
