the term fast, is pretty subjective here.

depends how you want to look at it.

the car wont do 12's quarter miles, but then again they do reach top speeds of over 150...stock.

My budget is 8k tops I want to spend in my cl ( price of cl is also included in the 8k. ) I smoke modded evos, cobras, boosted/modified eclipses. And they have spent a whole lot money on their car and parts than I did

props to anyone that makes it fast... i on the other hand plan to drive it slow as long as i have it. MY particular TL is not a race car. but when i've had to give it gas on the Interstate.. lets say i havent had much trouble with everyday cars and trucks catching me after tailgating

I don't know but that doesn't sound too good. Believe it or not my best run with my "00 TL ever was a 14.99 but another member with a "99 did a little better than that. Just sneaked into the "Fourteens"!

Those of you who think FWD cant go around a track well need driving lessons and to watch some other forms of racing other than Nascar. Like Touring Car racing. They hold their own against RWD, Many of the events i go to there are a few FWD cars(modded) that are going around the track just as fast as modded AWD evos.

x2 It's all about knowing your car's dynamics.

Also AWD = better handling on the track is a myth. Sure if you're a n00b with a heavy foot you'll be less like to wind up ass first in a wall than you would with a RWD. But many AWD cars are prone to mild understeer. Plus they weigh more than pure RWD layouts.

Alot R34 GTR's purpose built for racing forgo the AWD system to get better performance.

adding headers and an intake improves performance dramatically you not only hear the engine breathing better you also hear ur tires screaming alot more off the line....well at least i did and alot can determine why ur car is being smoked by altimas like what gas you use ( i only use shell no matter what) and how often u do ur maintainance so tlc goes a long way not just ur cars body but under the hood as well plus always make sure ur air filter is clean u can loose alot of power from a diry filter i wish u luck on ur mods and don't be scared or talked out of doing what u want to ur ride ur the driver and ur modding for ur self ot the world

I like my 01 CL S. Its the best daily I have ever owned. I keep it maintained, and it gets excellent fuel efficiency for the hwy passing power it has. I would like to add some mods, but I'm not sure if its worth it with most people having mods done to 03 CL S6's, and I dont see many 01 mods (that are affordable atleast; I got a family to take care of). All in all, I wrecked an 03 G35 cpe that was a gas guzzler. For 3/10 a liter larger in size, it was NOT that much faster than my CL is if at all.

If you have one StonedCL, why shit on it? You'll be mad if she catches feelings and breaks down on your ass monday morning! Its capable, efficient, and reliable. Fuck the tranny probs, warranty should've covered up until the fix honda installed for you. Plus, most of your comparisons are to cars that are nearly a decade newer. If early millennium technology is STILL holding its own now, I think that fact alone speaks volumes about the actual quality of a CL/TL. Its probably the only car that I've owned that I won't ever sell.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

The mods made your trans. go, or is that speculation? If that IS the case, I ain't moddin' ShiYt! I'm really not a need for speed/fastNfurious type modder. I just want the added fuel economy, engine response, and sweet exhaust music of a few well placed mods. I don't want to do any modding thats going to require me to do some replacing! Hell 2 the no...

^^^Its all a matter of maintenance/chance/bad luck/random luck/etc of how long the AT lasts in our cars. There are plenty of these cars out there that havent had issues with the tranny. Its kind of like a shark attack-doesnt happen all the time but when it does you hear about it.

I don't think the headers made my trans go just coincedence.. I did not drive it hard, i never really push her that much anymore... the headers deff did make it sound better and more responsive ... everyone joked when i was installing my headers that i will need a new trans and they where right.
2 trans went b4 the headers so no matter what u do the trans will go!

StonedCL Im not trying to bash anyone or anything but our cars are not race cars. Luxury sport is the category we're in if im not mistaken. everyone has different expectations for their cars and they will do anything to get there. Rajca and Fsttyms have turned their cars into things i never expected from the TL/CL. some have higher expectations than others. my friend roger ran a 12.9 with a 130 shot on a 2G type s
dont you have expectations for your small pecker?

you say its not worth it but you kept it through 4 trannys. if people think its a race car let them think so. I dont think my car is a race car but i love it for what it is. its a 6 going on 7 year old beast and i think its a fast car. if you think it isnt then it isnt. you say you dont care cuz this is just a forum and there are more important things in your life yet you continue to try an justify your posts. like i said this is not an attempt to bash you or anything but lets be adults here. being the mature one all you should have said to the OP was "IMO the tl is not a race car so dont waste your time and money" instead you criticized the TL on one of the largest if not the largest TL nation......
