Question TL or CL?

Man, i just keep going back and forth with myself. I really could use a 4 door car, but the CL has the 260hp engine, 6 disc in dash, memory seats, and all that.

Did anybody do some thorough tests between the two cars, and what conclusions did you come to?

I went through the same decision as well. I don't get the car until May but I finally chose a TL. 4 doors just seems more practical to me. For drag racing obviously you'd go with a CL but I doubt I'll doing that much. Plus, with the extra 4 thousand bucks you save for getting a TL instead of a CL you could blow it on getting aftermarket parts or navigation.

I drive both on regular basis (I have a 99 TL and mt father has a CL-S) and I must say they both have their advantages and disadvantages. The CL-S handles a lot better then the TL in my opinion, but that can be fixed fairly easily. The extra doors are good if you need to haul more then two people. In my opinion the TL is a better looking car from the back, but that is just personal opinion. I could compare and contrast them for hours. It basically comes down to your needs. If you use the back seats a lot go with the TL, but if you don't really use them go with the CL-s. Either way you can't go wrong they're both great cars.

I tested both and picked the TL. Not too much slower, and looks a lot better IMHO.

It depends , I really loved CL's performance , but then my dad mom , two little bro and sis can come anytime to visit me. Thus I have to buy a family sport car ...
So if you don't have family or other comfort matters go for the CL-S , if you do have go for TL. I also personally don't like the CL exterior ,IMHO( 2nd time I use this acronym , so cool ) TL is better in exterior.

Cool

in my opinion I like the both. I was in the acura dealership and there on the floor was a silver cl-s on my right, and a white Tl with navi and ground fx kit (man it looked good).
I went in the dealership toi get the cl-s and that Tl had me totally perplexed. I didnt know what to do. If i hadnt been drivin a 98 maxima se at the time and had a 89 maxima before that, I would have snatched that tl up in a second, but i wanted a fun car with lots of speed and only 2 doors. I am 25 and i was gettin tired of hearing that i was drivin daddies car. Dont get mne wrong, I love the car and if streetefx was sellin his car 5 months ago, i would have bought his.

Right now i've got a 98 accord ex v6, which is pretty close in styling to the CL. But if my decision was based on going for a different car, i'd go for an A4.

I just don't know. I like the looks of the TL better than the CL. But adding a spoiler to the CL helps. But then we're talking $2500 more...

But than the CL does have the 6-cd in dash, the 260 hp engine, mem seats, and a few other things.

The doors don't really concern me. I don't drive with anybody that much, but that's more because my friends have CR-V's, RX's & Land Cruisers, so we're not gonna shove 4 people in my coupe when those are the other options.

I'm just thinking, i've always had 2 door cars..I'm 32, maybe i should get a 4 door. They're more practical. I do carry stuff in my car a lot of times.....

But, than i always go back to the coolness of the type s.

I sure wish they'd announce the TL-S, so i don't buy a CL, and have them announce a really cool TL-S a month later.

Easier to make out in the back seat in a 4 door than a 2 door.

Cuz i dont get my license till then =P I'm only 16 right now. Having a TL as a first car is SWEEEEEETTTT, of course i gotta wait until the summer's over before my mom actually hands over the keys =( (gotta drive the old car first for a few months), but at least I'll eventually get it!

Sorry, this entry is sooooo long, but gimme a chance.

UGEN, you got no idea how right you are...

Listen, I hope no one gets mad at me. I was distraught when all the new stuff started coming out after I got my 99 TL NAVI. 260 hp, better handling, cd changer, mem seats, 5 speed, etc. This is what I came to after I stopped crying.

Everything is psychological. Tell you the truth, I couldn't tell much difference in the 260 hp, especially since the sshifter shift by itself wasting all that flatlined torque. I eibached, 17 inch rimmed, 45 profile potenza tire-d and i bet you it handles better than a cls even in the wet. 6 cd changer. I have about 100 cds like everyone else. 6 wouldn't do the job. I'm the only one that drives the car although I would like it to back up when i get in/out.

A coupe and Type S are all hype. You can have much more for less if you don't follow the crowd. And you'll have white on your tail light instead of pink...

email me for a pic.

Thumbs up

OK OK, that's it will all the CL-S bull, I think the TL is more pratical and certainly better looking, especially from the backside. I've always hated the 1st gen CL. The 2nd gen is a little better and still not close.

It's all hype from Acura to sell the freakin car CL-S, TL-S. Personally I wouldn't get a TL-S if it came out. I would still fix up my TL though.

Oh the reason, I don't like the CL, is because it looks like a bubble from the back, it's too round and damn, if it doesn't look to sporty either, I would go for an NSX, if I wanted 2 door(excpect I would have to trade in my house, lol)

I like to pimp my ride, and I think it's easier to pimp in a Luxury 4-door then a wannabe luxury-sport 2 door CL.

just my .02 cents......

Personally... I've owned both... If I had to choose again... it would be the CLS over the TL.

But make your own decision... read these two posts...

From TL Board: Why you all picked TL over CL-S ????

From CL Board: Why you chose the CL-S over TL???

They should give you pretty good reasons on why to go either way.
