TL Air conditioning noise??
I have been searching threads for answers to a strange noise my 2000 TL air cond. is making. It is a low rumbling sound almost like a muffled Yahtzee cup with dice or marbles rolling around. It almost sounds like it is coming from the glove box when the air is running. It doesn't make a difference what speed the fan is on or if it is on Full Auto, and it is totally random. It seems to happen once or twice a week, but never at the same time or the same driving conditions. Has anyone heard of this issue, it is driving me crazy!!

check / clean the air filters in there, thats where they are located, behind the glove box, there was alot of debris when i changed my filters out. you can get new ones at autozone etc.

Debris in that section would rattle around even when the air isn't on.
My car makes this noise, but you can only hear it from outside the car. I think it's the compressor.

I have the same issue...check out this link....

I really dont know anymore still BTW. my noise is deffinately not the compressor, it only happens when the engine coolent circulates, so I think it has something to do with the heater core.

Satin - I think I noticed this same problem a few months ago and then it seemed to almost disappear only to find a few weeks later I noticed my RPM's revving up with normal acceleration while the AC was on (kind of like the car is in VTEC mode, but it isn't).... don't know if the two are related but I don't hear the original Yahtzee cup noise you described - now it's just revving up my RPM's with AC on and goes away when I turn off the AC or if the heater is on there's no problem. Compressor?

Not to hijack the thread but I also have a noise coming from my a/c. It's not in the blower but rather the compressor itself. It almost sounds like the bearings may be going bad. We had a Taurus a long time ago that made this sound before the compressor quit. The a/c still works great but when the clutch engages is when the annoying sound starts...then when it kicks out, it quits.
Does this mean my compressor is on its way out soon? It's been doing this several months but still works great. It is worst on a cold engine and after warming up, it's not as bad. I just want to be prepared if I have to spend $800 on a/c work...since the car needs $800 worth of tires and around new year's will need a timing belt.
As for the original poster's question....that sounds like your blower motor just has trash in it like the others stated. I had this problem on both my TL and my 00 Civic I used to have...that's an easy fix.

yea my a/c has a knocking sound when on that you can hear from outside of the car when it's on. i just recently replaced my cabin air filter and cleaned around where it was, but it doesn't even sound like it is coming from there. glad to hear that other people are hearing it too and it's not just me.
