In my younger dsays i used to work at Sears tire & auto. It is not a DIY unless you have the equipment as eyesnake02 stated. But one thing i do suggest is when you go to get it done, make sure you request that they place the balancing weights on the inside of the rim, where you cant see them, or use the ones that stick on the inner part of the rim. I dont recomend using the stick on ones since they can pop off and you will have to get them balanced again! Hope this helps!

I find www.tirerack.com has good users' review on tire shops. Just enter your zip code and you should be able to find a good one in your area. By reading feedbacks at tirerack, I found a shop that actually uses torque wrench to tighten lugs and only charges $16 per tire that includes mounting, balancing, and disposal.

oh, when you get new rims/ tires, do you need to do anything else other than mount and balance them? like alignment(i dunno what this is, but sounds wheel related) or anything like that??

I'd get an alignment. Save your new tires.

I just got some tires from the Rack, and had them shipped directly to me (stock size); two fit in the empty trunk and two fit in the blanket covered back seat. My local Wal-Mart Tire & Express Lube mounted and lifetime balanced all four for $52 including new stems, disposal, & tax. Future rotations will cost me less than $2 per wheel since I had them done there. Great price, and good service - in & out in about an hour.
