Post Tire pressures revisited

From a post on the Type-S board:

"...what pressure is optimal...draw a chalkline across the width of the tyre, drive for a bit, and look at the wear pattern of the chalkmark. Wearing more quickly in the centre indicates pressure that is too high, and wear on the edges indicates too low..."

This makes more sense than a generic pressure, as the weight of vehicle plays a part as well as the brand and type of tire. For example, OEM tires might be stiffer than aftermarket tires and therefore perform best under different pressure.

As an aside, the pressure indicated on the actual tire is the MAXIMUM pressure, and not at all the recommended pressure.

nice suggestion, but sounds like a lot of trouble to go thru to find out optimal pressure. i will stick to 32 psi for now.
