Tire Dressing?
I have used Black Magic on my tires before and I like the wet look. From reading various websites it seems that the silicone is bad for the rubber. I haven't seen any cracks in the rubber yet. Has anyone actually seen cracked tires? If you have, how much tread life was left on the tire? If the treads are shot when I find cracks I don't think I care.
I don't know about silicone based products, i'll have check what kind I have. i use mguiers tire shine natural gloss.
Make sure the tires are clean first. I have found the best results when I wash the tires, dry them. And the spray the shine stuff on, let it sit and soak.. and then dab off off the excess. Viola!
Just don't use armorall on it. I think the cracking will be more likely to happen in harsher conditions. And if the temperature changes drastically. That will contract and expand the rubber and make it more prone to cracking.

For years I have use Eagle One products and they have been by far the best car care product line I have ever used. None of the greasy look, nothing flies off onto your fenders, just black tires and it lasts. Eagle One's Tire Cleaner and Tire Dressing is primo; imho. Their leather care line is excellent as well. I use it, I don't sell it.
Eagle One products, here in S. Fla., are hard to find so most times I order from California and they ship direct to me.

I have stopped using any tire dressing for two reasons:
1. During hard cornering I would expect the tire to roll slightly if the edge of the tire is wet with a lubricant I would be loosing some traction.
2. My own personal preference is a flat black look, not the wet look. I scrub the tire with a sponge and soap during cleaning.
Tire remains clean, dark and flat.
Again, this is just my preference.....

Addona, you got that right.
Nothing beats a nice clean tire. With or without dressing, a clean tire stays black for much longer.
I just like the tires to shine like the rest of the car. Then again, I don't do much hard cornering. A dirty tire can make your car look dirty.
