Tips stolen
Tips stolen
So I go out to my car today only to find my baby missing its sparkling tips! I did a search around these boards and I found that they're supposedly bolted on and in some cases welded tight, so that most people had trouble getting them off when replacing them. How the heck could someone have just made off with them in a public parking lot? In any case, should I be complaining to the dealer about this? Obviously they were too easy to remove and they might not have welded them on right. My dealer's a nice guy and would probably replace them if I complain about it, but I don't want to make a fuss over nothing. Any estimates on replacing them with OEM tips? ~$50?

Alright, fair enough, maybe it wasn't that complicated
I'm willing to look at non-OEM tips if someone can help me out here. What specs do I need to look at for it to fit the OEM exhaust? I guess the diameter of the pipe is all I need. Anyone got that for me?
Also, any tasteful suggestions of tips would be helpful. Nothing gold colored or huge (read:ricey).

Most tips are a one-size-fits-all. Like the 3A racing tips sold from this site. There are three screws which are connected to 'U' shaped slots which fit to various exhaust pipes.
You can click in my sig to see an underbelly shot of the 3A racing tips.

since when does it become the dealership's fault for stuff being stolen off your car
Who ever took them probably has them up on ebay right now

Of course it's not the dealer's fault
But I was just wondering if there was something that was supposed to be in place (i.e. welding) that maybe wasn't on my car that facilitated the removal, but apparently it's just a simple to remove screw. So I won't give the dealer any beef

Let me get this straight, your factory tips were stolen by removing 1 screw. So now you should replace them with aftermarket tips which are held on by 3 screws,(those shouldnt be real tough tough to remove either) Go with a high quality aftermarket tip between 3 and 4 inches and have it welded on!
The new tips are easy to remove as you just need to unscrew and pull off. The problem is, after you drive the car for a while, the tips become welded on hard and they are extremely hard to remove, as the heat causes the tips to shrink and the exhaust pipe expands.
BTW, the person or persons who stole you're exhaust tips would truly be:
EXHAUSTHOLES.

So far they have only gotten the "TyseS" logo off of the trunk. I figure I am way ahead as I have already had two cars stolen and totalled. Just can't decide if it's worth the effort to get the TypeS emblem replaced; probably not worth the aggravation of finding it gone again. Whoever took it the first time will no doubt be back shopping again.
